A spin-off of the thread in Games... what songs can't you stand, despite liking the band / artist in question?

For me, it's:

The Beatles - Yellow Submarine / Here, There, Everywhere

Queen - Bicycle Race

Any of the homophobic old blink-182 songs :dread:

Also, the Manic Street Preachers have a cover of Rihanna's Umbrella which I absolutely can't abide.

A lot of Blink songs are unlistenable nowadays for that reason. :dread:

Oasis - Little James.

Terrible song, the first indicator that letting Liam write tunes was a bad idea. :dread:

Iron Maiden - Age Of Innocence

Reads like something from the letters page of the Daily Mail. :dread:

I like almost all Queen but I kind of get annoyed at Play The Game. I think it's because the intro hurts my brain to listen to which puts me in a bad mood for the rest of it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, even though I count them as one of my favourite bands, there's at least one bad song on every Iron Maiden album.

Yep. Songbird is a really elegant song but man, did he contribute some stinkers.

The manics haven't released a good album since Know Your Enemy in 2001, with the only exception being Journal For Plague Lovers in 2009, which was made up of songs to go with lyrics written by Richie Edwards before he disappeared in 1994.

I used to be into my Emo and heavy rock back in the day, but you'd get songs that were pure shite with just shouting. Eg. State of the Union by Rise Against, a great album, with a real stinker introducing it.

but there are so many, even the best albums have some real tut.

Hot Fuss by the Killers is a fantastic beast of an album. But there are 2 songs on there that are awful, Andy Your're a Star is one I can remember right now.

Send Away the Tigers is a brilliant album IMO.

Yeah, it's just nothing like their earlier anarchic post punk stuff on their first 3 albums, or their darker take on brit-pop from the 3 after that. It's just pop rock by that point.

Absolutely not, it’s responsible for one of the greatest football chants I’ve ever heard.

Send Away the Tigers is probably the Manics best "Vanilla" album, it's stripped of almost all of the subtext and bite of the early work but it's a hell of a good pop rock album.

The first one I flat out didn't like by oasis was magic pie. Up until then, I loved everything they did (even hey now!), all the bsides, just great, but on my first listen to be here now, after DYKWIM and my big mouth, getting a 7 minute dose of magic pie was sobering :dread:

I'd also have to go with 'oh my sexy fire' by Kings of Leon. Its not thst its bad, it just got so overplayed ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE to the point where I can't strawberry floating stand it, like when I hear the opening notes I can't switch it off quick enough. I can't stand it so much that the album it's on is ruined and I never bought anything by them again. I don't listen to anything by them now, and I used to love them :lol:

So yeah, sexy fire is mine.

Down In It by Nine Inch Nails, it’s on Trent’s first album so I guess he was still finding his feet but it’s an awful track, almost an attempt at rapping.

The Prodigy's last album bar the first track is an absolute disaster.

I didn't think he actually wrote anything on the solo albums? I may be wrong on that.

To be fair he did much better with his later Oasis contributions, but they were never really up to Noel's standards. I've still got a soft spot for Be Here Now (and some of the B sides around that time are great as well) but it was definitely a step down from the first two albums and there are some proper stinkers on there!

Another one that stands out is Shakermaker, bloody awful!

Outside of a couple of tracks (There’s No Other Way and Bang) I find blur’s first album; Leisure pretty hard to listen to.
