They had a good run up to then though. I've probably listened to Intergalactic Sonic 7"s more than any other album.

Jesus Says is okay but Wildsurf is probably the highlight of Nu-Clear Sounds for me.

I wouldn't say the production was necessarily more slick on Meltdown, certainly Free All Angels and, to an extent Nu-Clear Sounds had already moved well away from the rougher sound of their early demos and 1977. I think that Meltdown offers a much fuller sound than anything they did before and has a very strong lineup of tracks with very little filler, whereas Free All Angels and Nu-Clear Sounds both have a good few tracks I would be reaching for the skip button on!

The first album without her wasn't bad, has some great tracks on it. Wasn't a big fan of their approach after that (the singles idea was weird). And the one after that did nothing for me.

Actually no, I like it a lot. I felt that Nu-Clear Sounds was very transitional, but by the time they got around to recording Free All Angels they'd nailed their sound as a foursome. Meltdown built on this, and then they decided to take this massive mind-boggling backwards step.

Charlotte had some solo songs I really liked back in the day, think there was one called Kim Wilde that I especially enjoyed.

I don't like Gold Digger by Kanye.

I would say I dislike this particular track despite the motorik nature of it rather than because of it. I love a bit of motorik but this track just never gelled with me. I mean, apparently, the next Mogwai album will be heavily Beak-influenced and I'm perfectly happy with that.

I saw they were recording again down south, reasonably surprised they aren’t using the recording space that’s more local to them in the West End.

I don’t think there is much by Mogwai I haven’t liked to be honest. Not a massive fan of Glasgow Mega Snake but it’s still a very good song.
