Check this thread, someone explains how the origins DLC works.

Basically the extra cosmetics are just cosmetics/extra music and unlocking things early. Everything else you can get in the game already.

so you just pay extra to get them from the star?

Tweet 4/5 makes it sound like some things are genuinely locked behind a more expensive version

Unsurprising, when they didn't their "Sega Ages" range on mobile platforms they delisted the old, better versions of Sonic 1 and 2.

I did hear rumours that some of the games may have a few bonuses added that are yet to be revealed. The Sonic 2 mobile port back in the day recreated a cut level from the game and people think we might be getting more stuff like that which would be cool

Johnny

The new music

I mean I get the music license issues but when your a big strawberry float off corporation like Sega, surely they would of had the money to pay the Jackson Estate.

I'm not sure it's just about the money.

"Sonic 3 remastered, now with paedo music!"

Technically these aren't "new" tracks, they're the original ones from the beta version of S3 before Jackson's team got involved.

Ice Cap is the only real loss for me, that's an absolute banger in the original, was never a massive fan of Carnival Night or Launch Base soundtrack wise.

The music is a significant part of the experience for me. To use a food analogy - graphics is presentation, gameplay is texture, music is flavor.

As fascinating as it is to have prototype music available, it's not what I grew up with, and frankly, a lot of it just sounds awful. It's bad music and very easy to see why they ditched it.

Sega needs to just pay the Jackson estate, or whoever else, and get ownership of these tracks.

I'm not buying it without them.

Don’t worry, we’ll get the Jackson DLC for £9.99 next month :toot:

I played S3+K originally on PC, the windows version already had the Jackson music removed so for me there's no difference.

Plus somebody will surely mod in the old Mega Drive tracks at some point.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

If you really want a modernised S3K experience with the original music just play Sonic 3 Angel Island Revisited

Yep, it's a brilliant project. There's an excellent Android version as well for playing on the go. (And a Switch release as well for people who have homebrewed their Switch!)

Got this downloaded now, the new animated intros are really delightful

Looking forward to getting stuck into it later, interested to see what the Mission mode throws up more than anything

They’ve forgotten to set the achievements live. Idiots.
