this is now the game i am most excited for this year, and Fang being back is a big part of that. I have wanted Fang to be brought back more for years, very underutilised.

This is what video games is all about.

Hope it plays as well as first appearances suggest.

Hmm.

I mean it doesn't look as bad as Sonic 4 did, but it's still in that incredibly awkward space of trying to push the 2D style into a "modern" polygonised world and, based on this initial impression, failing at it.

I'd be infinitely more interesting in a Mania 2, a format of classic Sonic that we know works, and works brilliantly. But instead we're getting this.

Not going to write it off completely yet, but it's got a long way to go to bring me around, compared to the Mania reveal which was an instant hype factor 11 this is maybe a 4.5

There's something off about the lighting that I really don't like that I can't put my finger on

Looks interesting. They seem to have changed Sonic's appearance a bit too, so he's more like the Sonic Generations small/fat Sonic than the horrible lanky dark blue design they've had in recent years. Looks so much better with that model.

I've never liked this Generations style "Classic Sonic" - it's an admirable effort for sure but the proportions and general dynamics of his movements are just never quite right which leaves the whole thing looking jarring compared to the character and appeal of the original sprites.

It's giving Sonic 4 meets New Super Mario Bros. Really not sure about it yet, especially given how right Sonic Mania got everything.

Releasing 3 Days away from Super Mario Wonder is weird. Delay it a month and It would sell more - baffling why these publishers pick particular dates.

Seems street dates are being broken for this in some places.

I agree. And it's not just Wonder, October is stacked.
