Another year and no Motorstorm collection. I guess the Crew 2 will fill that void now...

Just watched the show. I enjoyed it and there were some cool-looking games, but it felt like a view into summer 2018 rather than stuff to get excited about for this year.

They had a bunch of 2017 announcements in the pre-show:

Knack 2
Gran Turismo Sport ( )
Ni No Kuni 2
Hidden Agenda/PlayLink

There's probably more besides.

Just to echo everyone else, all a bit flat to me. Sony have a bunch of franchises right now that seem to have this earthy look to them. Horizon? Forest. Days Gone? Forest. GOW? Forest. Monster Hunter? Forest. Different games, sure but the colour pallet felt the same across the board.

That Detroit game, already you can see how badly that is going to play out. The voice acting

Spider-Man looked incredible though.

I don't care for it at all but still no GT? How does that team get away with it?

Suprised no Shenmue remake. The SOTC remake to me was a bit... odd? I don't know, were people asking for this?

Solid catalogue of games but shame there wasn't a couple of surprises. Atleast they didn't announcing games that weren't 5 years down the line. Yes, I'm looking at you RE2.

My particular highlights were Spider Man, Monster Hunter World, God of War still looks interesting, Skyrim VR but with hesitation and Moss which I thought looked lovely and was a break from the stream of on rails shooters which VR is starting to focus on.

I'm really happy they announced Tropico 6.
I'm a tad disappointed they didn't say anything about a release date for Last of Us 2 but if it's next Christmas I suppose that's for next years E3.
Skyrim VR could be great.

Very happy they didn't say anything about PS5 and I think that pretty much confirms it won't be out next year so 2019 at the earliest.

Spider-Man just looked like a QTE fest. Might as well watch Spider-Man 2 on Blu Ray with L1, R1 and X occassionally flashing up on screen to be pressed. QTEs are not proper gameplay people!

A lot of Sony stuff now starting to look pretty damn samey. FF7 is basically vapourware. Solid but unspectacular overall.

One interesting thing I learned this morning, The Inpatient is a prequel to Until Dawn.

I've only had a quick look... but don't Skyrim VR and the motion control parts of Skyrim Switch look pretty similar?

I really wondered how they'd do the movement in PSVR, it looks like twin Move controllers for each hand but then how do you move?

Use the sticks on a pad with your toes.
It's kind of like pedals in a car but much more complicated and annoying which is what everyone loves :D .

A solid offering, but very few surprises. Perhaps Sony has taken to heart the criticism that they've been announcing their games too early, I'm not sure, but I felt there could have been more. The delivery was also lacking; it's a very difficult balancing act between having too much chatter and too much game footage, I don't think they got the balance right here. What was clear is that Sony has a lot of exclusive content, it's just quite a long way off.

A 7/10 maybe, hardly up to the standard of the last few years. Ah well.

It looks like both Sony and MS have little to offer in terms of exclusives this Christmas, they seem to be leaving it up to the 3rd parties to shift their consoles. Nintendo could well be the best option in terms of exclusives.

It was ok. I fear Spiderman & Days Gone will be too QTE heavy, maybe God of War too, and I don't care for VR. But 2018 is going to be stacked and there's enough I haven't played on the console to keep me happy til then.

I'd much rather Scalebound than that mess Monster Hunter currently looks like.

Nice on Undertale finally getting a console release :) Amazing trailer too ha. Wonder how they'll handle some of the late game mind fuckery, some of that will have to be changed with the different platform

Skyrim VR is definitely very interesting.

It's definitely interesting in a 'how can they still keep milking this cow 6 years later' kind of way.

If it is the full experience and can be played without nausea then I am so up. To adventure in a fantasy world in VR will be unbelievable. I'm going to feel a bit cautious in the dungeons against the undead.

I have only played VR for a short time round a friend's house one evening, but don't most games where the player isn't rooted to a set seating position cause nausea after a while?

In theory a game like Skyrim would really benefit from the immersion VR brings, but I do wonder how a 100 hour+ game is going to play and feel in VR. I haven't followed developments in this area, but won't it pretty much be the meatiest, "traditional" game so far to appear in VR?

Skyrim VR if it works really would be the meatiest VR game! Cliffy B. in interview yesterday was saying that the reason VR games are barely anything more than tech demos is because developers have not been given substantial investment to make a proper game. So whilst the VR market has a small userbase the best chance of getting a full game is converting a pre-existing title like Fallout or Skyrim.

I watched the trailer for Skyrim VR and there has definitely been a graphics downgrade from the Special Edition - but this is to be expected as two images have to be drawn. As a kid I read Fighting Fantasy game books which were played with dice, so the prospect of walking and exploring Skyrim in VR is mind-blowing to me. At present the tech is 1st generation and imperfect so there are a lot of naysayers. But I have no doubt that VR will be a massive part of the future of gaming.

One thing to mention about all VR games really is that in 2D you are only seeing half the image. So yeah, I've got no problem with it looking a little more scrappy around the edges.

Just glad I didn't play the SE version last year.
