Holey moley!

How much did it set you back? Assume this is the DK2?

What will be first on your list? Elite?

I'm genuinely excited for you. Impressions ASAP please!

Double post

I can't remember if I've asked this before, but does the headset do any processing itself, or is it merely the "monitor"?

Basically what I'm wondering is do you need a kick ass Graphics card to make it worthwhile?

You need a kickass GPU.

Yup, DK2. $462 all-in with shipping and duty.

I've got Elite and my X52 Pro ready to go already.

Don't you have a 780Ti, though? I wouldn't be worried about graphical grunt.

I would have thought it would have been from Oculus themselves I would guess.

http://www.oculus.com/dk2/

I will be holding of for the commercial release my self.

Same here Xeno. Putting a little bit of cash aside each month so I can easily afford to get a kickass GPU and the consumer version when Oculus Rift finally hits the market.

Have they mentioned anything regarding a release date for the consumer unit? I know it makes sense to wait, but the idea of playing doom3 or elite makes me feel like a kid at Christmas!

Straight from Oculus, as others have said. When the consumer version comes out I'll probably just sell it to fund the upgrade, or donate it to work or something.

If you're wanting it for Christmas, I'd order soon. It was a two month wait from my initial order to it actually being ready to ship.

How is a small dog going to help you play games in VR?

Ive heard that the current DK2 has issues with the pixel grid being very visible.

One of the ars writers actually said that the pixel grid pattern has been pretty much burned onto his eyes, when he is in low light or closes his eyes he can see the pattern. Bad times.

DK3 is using a higher res screen again to counter this, but that of course means more powerful hardware required to run it at a rock steady 75fps.

He had a five hour session with it and could see squares in his vision the next day. Shouldn't surprise anyone.

How long are you supposed to play for?

I dunno about you, but I like to have the option to play my videogames for more than 8 or 9 minutes a pop.

Give me Ad7's van and in 10 minutes 8 seconds I could lap the Nürburgring.
