Dark Souls: Prepare to cry

I've just killed The Bed of Chaos and for the first time I did so without dying. I learned a new strategy from the Dark Souls Wiki which made the whole thing more tolerable, easily the worst boss in the game.

Edit: Just took the Four Kings down too. I was having a bit of trouble with them so I decided to use Power Within.

They arn't a problem if you kill them off quickly before the next one turns up

I killed them on my first or second try on PS3 no problem but this time round they gave me a little jip.

Edit: Well that's Dark Souls finished yet again. With a little help from a guy I summoned in I even killed Manus and Kalameet on the first try. I'll probably go through again and get the second ending and try to clean up as many achievements as I can but I doubt I'll get them all as Knight's Honor is just too random.

Well, I've made it to what I can only assume is the Boss of The Depths. There's a summon for Solaire just outside the door, so I've headed back to the bonfire to rest up and get some Estus before I take it on.

Should I be worried? :?

Point taken.

EDIT: Meh, wasn't too bad. Got past it on my second attempt. Got the key for Blightown, so I guess I'm heading off that way. Any suggestions for weapons I should be looking for or upgrading? I've got the Drake Sword, but that's only going to take me so far.

Even at +5 the Drake Sword is as good as useless at your stage of the game.

I swear by the Black Knight's Sword. It's a rare drop from the sword and shield wielding Black Knights such as the one you find in Undead Burg or on your return visit to the asylum.

If you strike lucky and get one it'll serve you well through the entire game even into new game plus and beyond.

Failing that the Claymore you find on the bridge guarded by the Hellkite Dragon is a good shout or perhaps the Zweihander from the graveyard but I always found that a little difficult to use.

Cool. Might give the Black Knight a bash as I've went back to the Blacksmith at the Undead Parish and I know there's that one at the top of the tower.

The Black Knight near the start of Undead Parish wields a Black Knight Greatsword rather than a Black Knight Sword.

Have you killed the one down the stairs near the Undead Burg boss fight?

Ah right. I'll try both anyway and see what I get. Probably nothing though. :D

Black Knight sword has made the game doable for me in most places.

As many times as I have finished this I love how this game keeps surprising me. I fought my second Vagrant today, such a rare enemy I didn't even know the existed until I saw one for the first time and had to Google just what the strawberry float it was.

Well it turns out I'd already killed both the Black Knights I knew about so no joy there. However I did get the Claymore from the bridge and managed to get it up to +8. Just need some more Large Titanite I believe.

I'm so glad I've stuck with this game, as the more I play it, the more I understand it and love it.

Only took me 3 attempts to get going.

Black Knight Sword and Zweihander are the dream team. BKS for bosses, zwei to kill normal enemies.

Longsword supremacy. Best move-set in the game by a long way.

Part of the reason why I quit Dark Souls 2 early on is that they strawberry floated it up in that game. :(

I did start off with longsword, and battleaxe. It was a dynamic, well balanced weapon. I'm trying to get some more dexterous weapons back into use actually, just means I need to actually play the game well instead of whacking things as those weapons are no way near as strong as, well, strength weapons.

Played a bit more of this on the FPS-fucked 360 version and promptly got cursed by the frogs in the Great Hollow Tree  Still, Hydra down and another 25G earned for meeting the NPC down here (and lopped off it's tail for the secret weapon). Never seen the Tree or Ash lake before so it was interesting to play in a brand new environment. Now off to buy some stones to uncurse myself :fp:

You can get a couple of free Purging Stones by trading a Cracked Red Eye Orb with the Crow at the asylum if you haven't already.
