Announced during a live stream event on Friday, Snow Day is described as a 3D co-op adventure on the snow-piled streets of South Park. The game will release in 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

“An all-new South Park game is coming… in 3D,” the synopsis reads. “Join Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny, in three-dimensional glory, to celebrate the most magical day in any young child’s life – a snow day!

“Grab up to three friends and battle your way through the snow-piled streets of South Park on a quest to save the world and enjoy a day without school.”

I always hated 3D South Park and this is no different. It just doesn't look right.

This looks like a massive step down from Stick of Truth and Fractured Butt Whole in literally every single way. Visuals, Gameplay, everything.

3D :dread:

Was really excited when I saw this and....its not what I want at all (which is another SoT/FBW).

Also getting a microtransaction vibe from it.

I'm not knowledgeable about South Park but, yeah, that trailer does have a rather "1996 3D take on a 2D game" vibe to it. It's a different move and it'll be interesting to see if it works.

What would a sequel to the late 90s abomination look like…well, there it is.

I haven't played much of Fractured Butthole, but Stick of Truth was incredible. They nailed it so well, what is this rubbish?!

The art style kinda of reminds me of the old 3D models they sometimes used in the 90s for the original south park game on N64/PS1 where you ran around throwing snowballs so I kinda like it.

Let me guess, it’s another online only, co—op, looter shooter, battle royal flavor of the month?. :|

I guess Fractured but Whole didn't sell enough because that and Stick of Truth had set a great template of what a South Park game should be.

Yeah, you're right, Mori, although this is a different publisher so I guess they gotta approach it in a new way.

According to a recent Bloomberg story, South Park's creators signed a deal with Viacom worth over $900 million, which will pay for six years' worth of projects. One of the things Trey Parker and Matt Stone plan to invest that money in is a videogame, which will be 3D and developed internally by an in-house studio rather than in collaboration with Ubisoft as The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole were.

It's also described as "set in the world" of South Park rather than explicitly a South Park game, which is significant because that $900 million deal doesn't just cover the next six seasons of South Park, but also 14 made-for-streaming Paramount+ movies that will "expand on the existing world". The forthcoming 3D game may be part of this expanding South Park cinematic universe as well.

I still haven't bitten on TFBW despite loving SOT because the RRP on Steam is still £50. Even with 80% off in a sale that'd still be a tenner for a six year old game, and I've never seen it lower than £12 myself.

I agree this looks weird thus far but if they build a good game people will get over it - wouldn't be surprised if someone made an N64 graphics mod at some point. Were the N64 and PC shooters different? I played the N64 version and it was meh. ONM gave it 90% but PC Gamer gave the PC version sub-30% - maybe even sub-10% - and absolutely excoriated it in the review.

For whatever reason, N64 publications (and maybe GamesMaster) rated the South Park titles a lot more favourably, whereas PC, PlayStation and Dreamcast magazines thought the games were complete dog gooseberry fool. Which they were! I believe to this day it's one of GameSpot's lowest ever scoring titles. South Park Rally was competent, but next to Mario Kart, Speed Freaks, Crash Team Racing etc. it was still poor.

Throwing snowballs at a seemingly never-ending stream of poorly animated turkeys in a foggy environment has always stood in my mind as one of the PS1's absolute worst experiences. I had played the likes of Doom, Quake and Medal of Honor on PS1 by that point, and it's not like the console was ideal or at the cutting edge of first person shooters either, so strawberry float knows what PC gamers must have thought of it.

Considering the creators of South Park have since said they thought it was awful, I'm surprised they've okayed this latest monstrosity. Heh, maybe they were won over by the thrilling gameplay we haven't seen yet. Or the cash. Lovely, lovely cash.

You can get Uplay codes for the main game and season pass for like £14 combined on CD Keys. Think a Steam code would still launch Uplay.
