IGN has made a comparison video showing the PS4 and PS5 versions, as well as posting the opening 20-odd minutes of the PS5 version.

60FPS Ray tracing Update out now -

I'd not played the PS4 version and I just played the opening 40 minutes of the remastered version on PS5.

Wow! I played in fidelity mode (4K, 30 FPS, full ray-tracing and detail) and it looked terrific; the colour and detail were great. The gameplay is punchy and fun, feeling good when you pull the moves. There are a lot of moves thrown at you at the start and it can be tricky to remember them all; I forgot how to slide under the guys with shields so may have to re-visit that.

The setup and accessibility options are very good - I really liked being unable to select subtitle text sizing as tiny text can often be a bugbear in modern games. The capability to adjust button presses and QTE play are very welcome, too.

I got the the game as a download via the Miles Morales Ultimate Edition and I'd wondered if I'd have to put the disc in to play but, thankfully, you don't.

So, early hours at this point - but it sure does look good.

So if you don’t need to put the Miles Morales disc in to play the remaster, theoretically you can trade it in if you finish MM and want to keep playing the remaster? But the poor bugger who buys the disc after me wouldn’t be able to get the remaster?

Yeah, that's right - you could sell the Miles Morales disc on but the buyer wouldn't have access to the original game as the download code would haven been used.

Is the only way to play the Remastered version of this to buy MM Ultimate?

I want to finally play the PS4 game which I've owned for about 2 years now but not played beyond the opening, ideally I'd play the Remastered version but I don't really want to have to shell out for a premium edition of the semi-sequel before I even know if I like this one first!

As in a code for MM Ultimate, or just for the Remaster on its own?

As far as I know, the ps5 version is barely any different any way, so If you've got the ps4 one you may as well just play that and save the money. It's not like the ps4 version looks gooseberry fool or anything.

It's 60fps and has instant loading and excellent activity card support (which is even faster than fast travel for mopping up hideouts and challanges).

Does the instant loading mean the great fast travel cut scenes have been dropped?

60fps is probably the thing that interests me most, if I could have just chucked them £10 to get that I'd have been happy

Putting the vanilla MM disc in, there’s a prompt on the title screen to upgrade to the ultimate edition for £20 - which is the original remastered, a couple of MM suits and a couple of in-game boosts.

Hmm, if I can get vanilla MM for cheap enough that might be an option.

Probably just going to end up sticking with the PS4 Spider-Man at this rate

Just finished the PS5 version.

Have to say that Doc Ock in this game is my favourite version of the character. He’s magnificent.

I feel like starting a 4th playthrough after last night's sequel trailer.
