That’s just for Miles? I think they said no saves carry over for the remastered Spidey game.

Yep that's right.

Should be free. :|

I can see both sides of the argument really, it does look bad when other teams are releasing Next Gen patches for free but if this really has had a ton of extra work done to it then I can see why they might charge.

However, if they try to pull the same stunt with TLoU2 and GoT then it really is a problem.

I'd be stunned if the PS5 Spidey has more work put into it than Cyberpunk, The Witcher 3 and Gears 5 to name 3 off the top of my head, all free upgrades with improved framerates, textures and lighting.

I think this will be more in line with AC Valhalla, better framerate and a few bells and whistles, but AC Valhalla's upgrade is also free. I'm surprised how much of a free pass this is getting, especially after the criticism of Control.

Whilst this may well be another 'Hi Photek' situation - he's right! I don't think Sony is getting a free pass though I've heard criticism in PS-centric YouTube videos. The remaster has been made to introduce new PS5 owners to the story and to encourage PS4 owners to upgrade - and also to make more some extra money. I don't think it would have been so bad if it was just included with SS Miles Morales at no extra charge. Yes work and expense have gone into making it but Sony would have garnered good will and perhaps more hardware sales by saying, 'Spiderman owners there's this great new version of the game waiting for you on PS5!' There hasn't been clear transparency or messaging but I don't think it was intentional to downplay bad news, rather uncertainty.

New remastered detailed, some of the new features

- Updated city’s environments
- Improved models and materials
- Ray-traced reflections and ambient shadows
- New skies and weather effects
- Upgraded Characters (higher fidelity skin, eye, and teeth shaders to individually-rendered strands of hair – Also uses a new facial capture tech)
- Peter Parker Face Recast (from John Bubniak to Ben Jordan – Insomniac says it happend to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture)
- 60fps Performance Mode
- Near-instant loading (you can turn back on the fast-travel animations)
- Spatial 3D Audio on compatible headphones
- Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers support
- New photomode features (you can now place lights in the environment and change your suit after you’ve lined up your shot)
- New suits

They have changed Peter Parker’s face completely in this and i am not a fan at all of the change

I think he looks alright, not that different from the original. Just looks more realistic to me.

Playing in 60fps is going to feel superb. I was looking forward to playing it a 3rd time anyway but all these new features are getting me really excited.

You can see buildings reflections in the windows as Spiderman swings by, and some reflections in puddles.

He looks too young to be their version of Peter Parker, isn't he meant to be 25 or something like that?

Still playing through this (on the DLC now), and my constant thought all the way through has been how gooseberry fool it looks, and how it desperately needs a remaster.

Changing the face of the main character has to be a first. Must have come around because the new face is the one they wanted in the sequel and wanted them to be the same between games. Still really odd, mind.

This does bring us to one of the bigger changes. In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker. We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life.

They are going to need to adjust the models of Miles, MJ and Black Cat to match how much younger he looks now, he’s going to look weird standing next to Black Cat now and trying to pass off that they were once banging each other

Hate it.

OG Pete was older, had seen gooseberry fool. Young character doesn't suit the story.

This is my problem, Pete in the game universe has been Spidey for seven years, he was a veteran and the look of the character suited that. This new model looks like early years which just doesn’t fit, he looks younger than Miles even and he is supposed to be his mentor.

Maybe they’ve found out something about John Bubniak.

I mean, of course, but it’s nice to see it officially confirmed.
