Happens with quite a lot of HD remasters.

The Ace Attorney one was particularly annoying, as it was only available in English or Japanese (the original games had EFIGS and Japanese, so the text was already available)

Spyro 1 probably has the most work required (with each rescued dragon having a couple of lines). Outside of cutscenes there are text boxes, but it doesn't seem like too much work to add, especially as I can see it being very annoying for those who want/need them.

You can’t seem to stream this. At least on mixer. And I can never get Twitch to work on Xbox anymore so that sucks

Anyone else had issues with frame rate? The opening cinematic kept stuttering for me. Hopefully the gameplay isn’t the same

I’m pretty sure the achievements are all done on a system level. At least that’s how I think I did it. It would have been console settings? That was before they removed the snap feature though and you can place the overlays in certain areas of the screen

EDIT: just googled it and it looks like a Microsoft allowed developers around the release of Rock Band 4 to choose where achievements popped up on the screen so I guess it was actually a game patch that moved it and I’m misremembering it as me changing it. So maybe the developers of this chose the location for a reason? Maybe something important happens in the lower center during the game that can’t be obscured by notifications?

I highly doubt there's anything the achievements would obstruct. It just seems like replicating the Playstation experience on Xbox. Top left is where the trophies appear on PS4, isn't it?

Anyone playing this on a PS4 pro - is the game supposed to have HDR support? Reason for asking is that the official blurb suggests it does, but when I am playing it there is no sign of it. Tested a few other games and HDR kicking in when expected.

Spyro never had subtitles back then. It’s the norm for that time but it’s a disgrace in this century.

It's weird because the balloon guy who takes you from world to world has speech bubble subtitles but it's the only place I've seen them used.

I played for a few hours last night and am really enjoying it, apart from when Spyro was acting a dick towards the end of my session and took me from nearly 20 lives back down to 3 thanks to a stupid super speed jump :x My stats say I've already done about 42% of the first game so it's smaller than I remember the original :shifty: I've just finished the magic area and am up to the Beast Maker's section.

It's definitely worth picking up if you're on the fence

I was going to wait for a price cut, but sod it. I loved the original trilogy. I’ll buy it today. Do the games have the challenges from the originals? I’ve often thought they were the precursor to the Achievements system. Catbat Quartet in particular stuck in my mind.

Man, I want this so much, but I refuse to support publishers not putting the full, finished product on the disc. Such a shame.

You mean the levels where they have 4 different things to check off. Yes each world has one level like this (4 items that have 8 of each to "collect" - like fly through 8 rings, burn 8 chests etc). You can tick them off individually for gems, so collect all of the rings in one run through for the gems and then do another run through to destroy all 8 flying planes. There's a bonus for collecting all 4 sets of 8 collectibles in one run through which I haven't been able to do yet because I have forgotten the optimal route. Oh yeh I forgot to say that these are timed levels!

Additionally each level in Spyro 1 seems to have an achievement linked to it also. I haven't really been aiming for them and have nabbed quite a few through regular play and they seem to be quite fun. Some have been for finding a secret area, taking enemies out in certain ways or collecting all of the gems on that level etc.

I am guessing that each level in Spyro 2 and 3 have individual achievements also as there seem to be quite a lot in this to get.

I think the complete first game is on the disc if an internet connection is your issue. Spyro 2 and 3 only have some of the levels on disc as far as I know. The reason for me having to install 2-300MB from disc and then a 42GB download is probably that the day 1 patch has to patch all of the disc files which is why it doesn't install anything from the disc beyond those few hundred MB's. If you put the disc in with an offline console then you'll be installing a lot more than that, rather than downloading it.

It was skill points that I was thinking of. Fun additional objectives that had their own menu, I think. Insomniac used them in the Resistance series too.

They were first introduced in Spyro 2, but it looks like they've added new ones for the first game too. Don't know if they've tied them to the achievements system or not.

oh right! Yeh I've seen it mention that I've got skill points a few times but didn't know what they actually were.

I don't know if you're in the UK now or not but if you have some nectar points you can double them up in Sainsburys (until Sunday I think!), so you only need up to £15 of points to grab the £30 game for "free", or you can exchange the nectar points you have and pay the difference.

Nope, USA. It's pretty cheap, $39.88, but I just have so much on my plate financially right now I can't spare anything. :( If my parents get me an Amazon gift card for Christmas I might, though.

Can anyone with this on PS4 please let me know what actually comes on the disc?

I want to get this but I've heard that there's very little on the actual disc...

Why do people care what's on the disc so much? It's 2018 FFS, move on.

On disc is the complete first game and parts of the second and third.

The disc on PlayStation installs about 32GB (300MB on Xbox) and downloads a 20GB (40GB on Xbox X) update for the day 1 patch for the first game and the rest of games 2 and 3. Total installed size of all 3 games after installing and updating is 70GB.

If you don't want to download 20 GB you need to play it offline otherwise it will download the day 1 update.

That's really quite bad that it doesn't have all 3 games on the disc

Thanks for the info
