I'm close to level 10 (tactical), and am not sure whether to go cruiser or escort. I like large phaser broadsides, however a nippy and hard-hitting escort could be fun. I have 2 ship slots, so I suppose I could eventually have one of each, one of which being the Odyssey-class of course, glad I got it over the weekend.

The level 10 ships didn't feel much different.

It's only when you get up to 30 (iirc) and the Defiant the really start handling differently.

Just a question on this. Is your next rank dictated by level or skill points spent?

And also, do you have to chose ships for your career or could you actually choose any for that rank?

Sp that you have not spent.

Any ship at that rank that don't cost c-points (unless you are willing to spend real money).

Oh so spending my points on levelling means I won't be able to get a new ship?

Bugger.

Someone said you get a free one with new rank?

Is the level 11?

Not at all, Xeno meant that it's your points earned, regardless of if you've spent them or not.

Sorry, I should have been clearer.

In other news I have finally got to Captain on my Gorn char. Talk about a pain in the arse getting there as one of the missions is bugged.

Thanks and Congrats. How did it take to get that far out of interest?

I must admit i'm not very good at sticking MMO's but at the mo this doesn't feel too much like one.

The fact i can drop in and out over time and not worry about subs should help me to stick with it more.

I got to vice admiral in less than a week but I was playing a lot as I was home sick. The Gorn (Klingon) one doesn't take long, you start at level 20 and the missions give you a level each as there isn't much content for them, I think that they are for the end game stuff.

The funny thing is, it originally was. Getting to level 28 was an achievement back at launch.

Coming back after Free To Play, and I've gained like 5 levels doing some Section 31 missions, and I still can't even remember how to play.

edit:: And then I remembered an image I made the first time we played:

It still works.

In fairness I have been blown up once or twice, and failed a mission, and that's just on normal.

I am tempted to get my self either a tactical advance fleet escort or the Sao Paulo with the points I am accruing with dilithium conversion. grinding is so dam easy in this game. i have no idea what most people seem to bitch about.

Speaking of which, how's this fleet malarkey going?

Surely there's enough regular or semi-regular forum players to get something rolling?

When we tried it one of us was below the 20 hr mark. If we can get 5 players with over 20hrs each, we can make the fleet.

I keep getting told the connection to the account server has timed out no matter which option I use for some reason. Checked my firewall wasn't blocking it and it isn't so I'm stumped.
