Dear GRcade,

As I write this post, I am very sad. Our Star Wars single player video game has been cancelled... AND REPLACED BY THE PLAYER CHOICE FILLED STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2. ALL HAIL EA AND THEIR GLORIOUS NEW GAMES!

Sincerely,

Forums Poster.

Dear GRcade,

Having a wonderful time playing EA's new STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT II™.
Every game is super intense and fun, the graphics are often lovely, and the community is there.
Loving all the space combat and ground play, haven't tried the Blast or Hero modes yet but I probably will soon.
Please give this game a chance when it falls to a suitable price point.

Move over silly old Battlefront II, there's a new, er, Battlefront, in town!
Everything is fine, do not worry.

Sincerely,

I doubt I'll get anywhere near that. Even the most obsessive BF2015 fans I've seen out there seldom broke 1,000 hours on that game (I hit somewhere in the region of 250), so I don't expect many people to Platinum this one. Or any.

If you played 12 hours a day, every single day, after a year you'd still have 144 hours to go.

Ah, yes, the thrill of maxing out 17 star cards for every class when you can only equip 3.

I think 12 hours would be tight unless you're prepared to not sleep or eat or use the toilet. And assuming you don't have school or work to go to.

With this much gameplay in the base game they won't need to bring out any DLC.

Well yes, it would be ridiculous, which was the point I was making ;)

There is a grand total of 324 cards. Upgrading these will require a total of 155,520 crafting parts. This requires opening a grand total of 3,111 loot crates which will require 4,528 hours of gameplay.

The 600 credits received from a hero crate is worth 27% the cost of a hero crate. This is equivalent to 30 crystals. To account for this, I reduced the cost of a hero crate from 110 crystals to 80 crystals. 12,000 crystals can be bought for $100.

Opening the required 3,111 loot crates requires 248,880 crystals. If you only purchase $100 crystal packs, this will cost $2,100.

I'd be interested in someone crunching the numbers on how long it would take to get and fully upgrade a specific loadout

@ 1:24. Credit Cards are the best Star Cards.

(Pre 1:24 is playing using no cards)

Don’t mind admitting I changed my mind and cancelled my preorder.

If the gaming community is using this release as ‘the one’ to make a stand against loot boxes/microtransactions/pay 2 win/in game grind then I think I will support this movement and vote with my wallet and not pay full price for this.

More likely to pick this up when there’s some discount offer now. Got plenty to play in the meantime.

Maybe we should have a poll:
- preordered and getting it
- preordered but cancelled
- not preordered but getting at/soon after launch
- not preordered but might get in a sale or if glowing reviews from GRcadians
- not getting

Can we add renting if we have the poll.

Divide that one in two:

- Already have it and playing it (enjoying)
- Already have it and playing it (buyer's remorse)

Their response to this in the Reddit AMA was hilarious. Basically said they didn't want people to exploit single player mode to progress unfairly in multiplayer.

Unless you pay them of course

As with all EA games, I will be waiting for a year until it shows up on EA Access.
