I'm not really, but I've poured at least a hundred hours into BF2 and I'm just done with it. My point is that without a significant dump of new content, which I know won't happen for all the reasons you listed, I'm done with the game. I love it to bits, it has
tons of potential and that's why I have my big ass content wish list, but all of the potential has been squandered - first by the loot boxes, then the progression system, lastly by an EA that was unwilling to expend more resources than the barest of minimums on a game that was flagging heavily in sales.
My only hope for the series' future is that lessons are actually learned from this entire debacle (and I think that DICE has actually learned - EA, not so much), and that BF3, when or if it happens (it'll probably be a next gen game, as the original BF3 release slot has since been assumed by Respawn's SW game), incorporates those lessons from launch and does not suffer from the kind of dev team shrinkage that slowed BF2's DLC down so much.
