Capital Supremacy feels a lot better now. The ground phase is helped by being able to get to the action faster, and the changes to the phases on the cruisers offer a better fight through the ship. Aiming to try to destroy the cores like the generators on the Crait Galactic Assault map feels a lot more authentic than just holding a monitor until the gauge is full. And only needing to go to one side of the map instead of splitting forces makes it a better fight, as well.

Applied the jungle droid and clone skins last night so I don't stick out like a sore thumb :datass:

When's the next triple XP event? :shifty:

Triple XP was great, even if I only played an hour during it. Yeah. An hour. Across five days.

I blame Sea of Thieves.

I also bought some of the droid skins last night and applied them, so I have pilot Assault and Officer, Jungle Specialist, and Training Heavy - which considering Heavy is my only fully levelled basic unit, is kind of funny to think of in context of what they're used for.

I kinda prefer the new default Heavy skin to the others. :shifty: My droid officer is a Training model, I think it looks pretty badass.

Dennis from DICE has confirmed that, after the currently in-development Clone Wars content is out, there won't be any more, for the foreseeable future. With the RoS season coming up, it'll at least be next Spring by the time we see more, but I can't help but hope for a Clone Wars last hurrah for the TCW season 7 drop - Coruscant, Ahsoka & Ventress, a couple more Clone & Battle Droid skin batches, etc.

I want next year to get Scarif, OT reinforcements etc.

Just as well I was planning on jumping on tomorrow anyway.

And in terms of content, I'm kind of expecting them to add the the Rise of Skywalker stuff, add a few new skins across the first three months of 2020, then one last hurrah of content in April during (or just after) Celebration - where Battlefront 3 will have seen a reveal. Then nothing. All focus will be on the new game, where the sequel trilogy will finally see a wealth of content, Capital Supremacy will be available across all eras, and command posts will be implemented into all modes from the start.

Battlefront 3 hasn't even started whiteboard concept planning, it's not being revealed next year. In fact, I'd bet that EA is waiting until after their Star Wars license is renewed - ideally non-exclusively this time - before beginning development.

I would hope and bet that content production for BF2 will continue until the end of 2020.

Also, the version of Frostbite they use for BF3 had best be able to handle 2015 & BF2 ports easily. It's so frustrating that classic maps are being lost to time because Frostbite is garbage.

Then has all interest for developing for the Star Wars licence been lost? Have they already lost the licence but nothing is being said on that until 2020? Aside from Ultracore - which they only finished up working on from back when it was Hardcore - they've been supporting both Battlefront II and Battlefield V with new content. But that's just supporting. I doubt all employees there are currently occupied on supporting either of those games. So there's got to be something coming. And if they were still currently supporting both current games, they wouldn't say anything about future releases.

Maybe I'm completely wrong and they've sidelined Battlefront to bring the reputation of Battlefield up first. Maybe I'm still just a bit sour that they've had this licence for five years and have only given us two Battlefronts. Here's to hoping Jedi: Fallen Order marks a resurgence of Star Wars gaming, with a new one coming every year.

There is no shortage of interest in developing for the SW license, honestly. I think a lot of studios would leap at the chance to contribute to the new Star Wars canon.

It is very likely that the several early scandals of BF2, and Disney's subsequent rare intervention have, let's say, severely jeopardised EA's future of handling the IP. It's plausible in this scenario that EA would want to prove its worth to Disney by supporting the troubled game with much more content than it would usually dedicate to a scandal-plagued financial failure, hoping to restore its reputation and thereby renew its license.

I don't know how large DICE is (500+ people?), but I do know that the Battlefront II team is around 100 strong, and has actually added a couple of developers to the ranks these last few months.

I also know that one of the senior devs, maybe the Community Manager, Ben Walke, has stated that Battlefront 3 is effectively not in any stage of development right now. And he would be in a position to know.

I feel like they're waiting to see how license negotiations turn out before they dedicate real resources to a game that, as of right now, may not be made. I also think that they could be helping develop a next gen Frostbite engine or Battlefield game.

It's a precious, highly coveted license, which I guess means that any product released under its name has to be spot on perfect. That's why 1313 etc were canned - for straight up not being good enough.

I want Respawn to do a Republic Commando sequel while another dev updates the original title. An Uncharted style game about Doctor Aphra would be cool, too.

That makes sense. And with the positive reception the game has been getting lately, I think they'd do better to keep content coming for it.

And as I've said before, I want to see what Delta Squad have been up to in this new canon, as just giving them a cameo appearance in The Clone Wars was criminal.

Really? Most games, like most movie tie ins, have been average at best. I could probably count on one hand the genuinely top tier Star Wars games and still have fingers to spare.

My guess is that EA took what they had to Disney and Disney was all, "No."

Things have changed now that the Mouse is in charge.

New update has released today adding Instant Action to the game. Aside from the fact they don't use vehicles, the AI are pretty much a great stand-in for real players, and it does feel as though I'm back on the 2005 game. It gets very close to feeling exactly like it. Even the hero-using AI are smart enough to use their abilities and block attacks. This is probably the best AI there has ever been in a Battlefront.

Ive been away from the game for ages, but does this mean there are now AI bots in the main (objective) game modes?

Not in Galactic Assault, Strike, Extraction, Ewok Hunt or Blast. Doubtful that they'll ever be there.

Hopefully this Felucia 2005/2019 comparison will load in... Condensed for potentially big.

The AI only appear in Capital Supremacy while on the ground phase, which were added to make battles feel more chaotic. As such, they upgraded the AI so they weren't cannon fodder for the players to rip to pieces. Obviously, they've been continuing to work on the improved AI system, hence where Instant Action comes into play. But unless stated in the future, no other modes use the advanced AI, and no other modes will be added to Instant Action other than ground phase Capital Supremacy.

I'm case anyone wants to check out the new update...

Obi-Wan has a new Defensive Rush animation now...

This combined with his new dodge animation make him play perfectly.

Edit:

Players have uncovered an AAT Separatist tank out-of-map on Geonosis, which can be entered and exited at will. Clearly the devs have been experimenting with the old vehicle spawns - question is, is this recent, or was it done a year ago when Geonosis & Capital Supremacy were still in development?
