- Third-person, action adventure
- Holiday 2019 release
- Single player
- Being developed in Unreal Engine 4 instead of the modified Source Engine used in Apex and Titanfall
- Stig Asmussen (Director of God of War 3) is leading the team as game director
- Chris Avellone (KotOR2, Fallout 2, Fallout: New Vegas) did some story work, story/character reviews, and wrote cinematic scripts for the game
- Jason de Heras is the Lead Combat Designer (Senior Combat Designer on God of War 3 and Ascension)
- Canon to the Star Wars universe
- Will be like "Force Unleashed without the Mountain Dew qualities"
- Game has a "dark" tone and vibe to it
- Narrative lead is Aaaron Contreras who was the lead narrative designer on Mafia III and narrative designer on Far Cry 3

On paper sounds great but .... EA.

Story DLC, XP boosters, micro transactions and pre order bonuses.

Will be interesting to see how it turns out and how it's launch and press are managed.

Wish my image sig would work

This man created the best story ever told in the Star Wars universe, the same story that undoubtedly inspired elements of The Last Jedi. This alone is super, super exciting.

- Narrative lead is Aaaron Contreras who was the lead narrative designer on Mafia III and narrative designer on Far Cry 3

I had to check this wasn't the same guy behind the infamous RockPaperShotgun Far Cry 3 interview (it isn't) but this makes me...less excited.

I wonder how much of it we'll actually see. Previous panels have only ever featured one trailer with more to come at E3. I guess we'll at least get some developer talk about changed direction or something.

Best Let's Play ever, explains all the good bits of the plot whilst going over the absolute nightmare of the game's production. Starring Jedi Jesus.

Clone Wars is every bit as big boy as the films, and the Mortis arc is on record as being a big, big part of Johnson's inspiration for the story.

Let me know when you leave Baby Star Wars behind and become a TRUE fan. Then MAYBE you'll understand lol.

I've never watched any of the animated series but have heard good things. From looking at Wookiepedia though, Mortis share some similar themes with Malachor from KoTOR 2 which is interesting.

Well at least it's not built on Frostbite so it stands with some kind of chance at being good.

What's wrong with Frostbite? Hard to code for?

TCW is worth watching - it fleshes out the era wonderfully well and introduces some first class new characters to the canon.

Notoriously. The Kotaku article on Anthem's production leaves a lot of the issues with that game's dev cycle on Frostbite's door:

https://kotaku.com/how-biowares-anthem- ... 1833731964

Even today, BioWare developers say Frostbite can make their jobs exponentially more difficult. Building new iterations on levels and mechanics can be challenging due to sluggish tools, while bugs that should take a few minutes to squash might require days of back-and-forth conversations. “If it takes you a week to make a little bug fix, it discourages people from fixing bugs,” said one person who worked on Anthem. “If you can hack around it, you hack around it, as opposed to fixing it properly.” Said a second: “I would say the biggest problem I had with Frostbite was how many steps you needed to do something basic. With another engine I could do something myself, maybe with a designer. Here it’s a complicated thing.”

“It’s hard enough to make a game,” said a third BioWare developer. “It’s really hard to make a game where you have to fight your own tool set all the time.”

Oh dear oh dear, that sounds pretty damn awful. :dread: I hope that whatever engine succeeds Frostbite is much easier to use - of nothing else, it'll be better for EA's profits to have its studios pumping out better games faster.

Plot speculation:

We may infer from the poster that the game will open on a climactic Clone Wars battle, which sees the Venator-class Star Destroyer the protagonist is on crash into a sparsely populated/uninhabited world. Cue Order 66, and then presumably facing down the surviving newly hostile Clones. The end of the opening act will, I would guess, be a battle against their Commander, supporting armour and various Clones, followed by an escape.

Also possible that the Clones will not immediately be subject to O66, if their comms are offline. Could be that they'll turn on you later than normal, or be gunned down by reinforcements.

Alternatively, you bring the Star Destroyer down yourself after O66 is issued.
