Finally watched the CG trailer. The protag looks like a strawberry floating YouTuber. It's like they engineered the most punchable face they could.

Wet fart of an announcement.

Also, strawberry floating this;

All the gameplay is being saved for E3. Unfortunate, but really - if Celebration wasn't happening, the first we've have probably seen of this would have been E3.

I’ll wait till we get some gameplay but at the moment I’d say it’s looking like a no, of course it could be alright but it just looks/sounds kind of boring at the moment.

For what was essentially a basic "setting the scene" trailer it was fine. Gameplay is always better, but I've got no issues with what we got. E3 was always going to be the best place to see more.

It's Respawn, who've not set a foot wrong yet, so I'm confident it'll be good.

Looks like the Inquisition will finally be making its way into a more mainstream setting. It was probably in Rebels, but I've not seen that yet - all I know it from is the Ahsoka novel, and the recent Vader comics, which really breathed life into the villainous group. I think it likely that Vader will feature in the plot as a result, even if only peripherally, perhaps as a final boss type figure.

Anyway, trailer looks wonderful, took me pleasantly by surprise on the setting - kind of a cross between Solo, R1 and TFA. Not so sure on that brief glimpse of the gameplay, but I have sky high hopes.

Description

Get the story behind the game with the STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order Deluxe Edition, featuring a "Director's Cut" suite of behind-the-scenes features and content as well as additional unique cosmetic equipment for your adventure.

Pre-order STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order to outfit yourself with unique cosmetic equipment for your lightsaber and droid companion.

A galaxy-spanning adventure awaits in STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order, a new 3rd person action-adventure title from Respawn Entertainment. This narratively-driven single player game puts you in the role of a Jedi Padawan who narrowly escaped the purge of Order 66 following the events of Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. On a quest to rebuild the Jedi Order, you must pick up the pieces of your shattered past to complete your training, develop new powerful Force abilities, and master the art of the iconic lightsaber - all while staying one step ahead of the Empire and its deadly Inquisitors.

While mastering your abilities, players will engage in cinematically-charged lightsaber and Force combat designed to deliver the kind of intense STAR WARS lightsaber battles as seen in the films. Players will need to approach enemies strategically, sizing up strengths and weaknesses while cleverly utilizing your Jedi training to overcome your opponents and solve the mysteries that lay in your path.

STAR WARS fans will recognize iconic locations, weapons, gear, and enemies while also meeting a roster of fresh characters, locations, creatures, droids and adversaries new to STAR WARS. As part of this authentic STAR WARS story, fans will delve into a galaxy recently seized by the Empire. As a Jedi hero-turned-fugitive, players will need to fight for survival while exploring the mysteries of a long-extinct civilization all in an effort to rebuild the remnants of the Jedi Order as the Empire seeks to erase the Jedi completely.

KEY FEATURES

● Cinematic, Immersive Combat – Jedi: Fallen Order delivers the fantasy of becoming a Jedi through its innovative lightsaber combat system – striking, parrying, dodging - partnered with a suite of powerful Force abilities you’ll need to leverage to overcome obstacles that stand in your way. This combat system is intuitive to pick up, but takes training and practice to fully master its nuances as you gain new powers and abilities along your adventure.

● A New Jedi Story Begins - As a former Padawan on the run from the Empire, you must complete your training before Imperial Inquisitors discover your plan to revive the Jedi Order. Aided by a former Jedi Knight, a cantankerous pilot, and a fearless droid, you must escape the evil machinations of the Empire in a story-driven adventure. Explore and overcome a wide range of challenges focused on combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving.

● The Galaxy Awaits - Ancient forests, windswept rock faces, and haunted jungles are all unique biomes you’ll explore in Jedi: Fallen Order, with the freedom to decide when and where you go next. As you unlock new powers and abilities, opportunities open up to re-traverse maps in new ways; leveraging the Force to augment the way you explore. Move quickly, however, as the Empire is actively hunting your every step in their effort to exterminate all remnants of the Jedi Order.

I get a feeling there will be, “cinematically charged lightsaber/force combat” sounds like its going down that path, unless they can implement two force users using force at will against each other without QTE.

I was talking to a friend the other day about what a Star Wars Soulslike/Sekiro game would look like. Obviously Respawn aren't going to go down that path, but done of the language they use stubs to suggest at least a decent and varied swordplay engine like Sekiro.

Then again, it really does sound like The Force Unleashed, Jedi Version. Which is fine, given that Respawn haven't really ever set a foot wrong

A souls like Star Wars game is an N-Gage tier bad idea.

PR wise maybe (and of course it's never going to happen) but I'd strawberry floating love one. Some of the fights in Sekiro are proper 1v1 duels, samurai movie dramatic music, sizing each other up and watching and waiting and pouncing. They feel incredible. The idea of that but with Star Wars lightsabre duels is homerdrool.gif

It'll be like playing Energy Ball Tennis with Phantom Ganon.

No complaints if that turns out to be true, launching balls/bolts or force lightning back at each other.

I can’t remember how the enemies force powers worked in Force Unleashed either, but I think they were quick time events? Would be better if it wasn’t QTE in this upcoming game.
