I finished this last weekend and had a really good time with it overall. As most others have said, gameplay is anything but original. I expected going in that it'd have elements of Uncharted and Dark Souls but I also got a very Breath of the Wild vibe from some of the puzzles and there were two particular sequences that were reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus. Most surprisingly though were the on-rails sections which felt like something out of Sonic Adventure  I feel like as a result of being so derivative it never manages to feel as good as any of those games do individually but I still found it largely enjoyable and well put together.

The story is what really elevated it for me though, so many great additions to Star Wars lore and it really reminded me of Star Wars Rebels, which is probably my favourite thing Disney have done with the Star Wars franchise. I didn't really have an issue with Cal as a character, he wasn't especially interesting but it never bothered me and I thought all the supporting characters were superb.

I don’t quite know why performance is so bad on base PS4.

The loading is really slow and there’s lots of freezing as you enter new areas, texture pop in is very noticeable and it feels like there’s input lag but I’m not sure if that’s the right term for what I’m noticing. The design is nice but it’s not exactly a graphical showpiece.

It still runs terribly on my PC even, which can run Red Dead 2 at around 60fps on high.

It's just really poorly optimised.

Weird, I don’t recall any issues with Titanfall or Apex Legends.

As much as I’m enjoying this, the combat is definitely not From Software level.

In the heat of battle it can begin to feel incredibly sluggish, the partying may as well not exist for how useless it is and enemies seem like they have an in built advantage over you all the time. The lock on and camera in confined spaces also strawberry floating sucks.

My need to takes little break from this as it’s starting to wear a little thin.

I like the design of the worlds but it’s as confusing as hell and they’ve tried their best with the maps but the layered and sprawling nature of the environments renders them next to useless. They really need a waypoint system.

Still having the same combat issues as above, I should probably knock it down a notch but I’m not sure that would help with the janky feeling of combining moves together.

I would have liked an actually different feeling world, it’s good they give you multiple to explore but so far they just feel like pallet swaps of red/yellow/blue/green world all with minor differences in the habitation built in to them. This is kind of problem with Star Wars as a whole though. It would have been great to have a town or city to explore, maybe it’s coming.

I’m sort of enjoying the narrative but I quite often forget why I’m doing a thing and what significance it has to anything I’m trying to achieve or why I care.

Yup. Those were pretty much my thoughts too.

Stay with it. It gets better.

Got this yesterday on a massive whim, to get in the Star Wars mood for the weekend. I never buy full price PS4 games and this set me back ¥7200 which is the most I've paid for any title this year. Did the same thing for Battlefront II two years ago.

Played up to a few save points in first planet. The scrapyard part made me think this should be called Jedi: Falling Order, the amount of time you spend on your arse sliding about. LOLZ.

I'm really surprised how much I've bounced off this, to the point where it's just down right pissing me off now. The performance is possibly worse than Control and the combat really feels so clumsy. Does the group freeze move even work?

Hold down the freeze button, rather than press it.

It always work for me after I figured that.

If the freeze button is R1 like it says it is then it doesn’t work.

Got this as a surprise for Christmas, started yesterday. The opening level is fantastic at setting the scene, I know when it's set timeline wise, and I understand who the main character actually is and his place. Just travelled to the second planet.

Combat is a bit clunky when dodging, but when you nail a parry, it makes you feel like a strawberry floating badass Jedi :datass: Especially when rocking a green lightsaber

This is still around £45-50 in most places, is it worth that investment or waiting till it’s £20.00/£25? Force Unleashed 1/2 I brought on release day but finished both so early I felt like it wasn’t worth the cost..
