Fine is fine, but good would have been better

Kal Skirata ain't even a main character and he's more than fine. Cal Kestis is a good, relatable hero for the tale, even if he (huge exaggeration warning) emotes as much as the main character of 3D Pokémon games.

For a AAA Star Wars game I feel we're setting our sights a little low.

He was fine, but he should have been, you know, better than fine?

It's not like the player characters in the KotoR games were dripping with emotion and personality.

I think Taf wants that sort of emotion and personality within the game. And though i was making a joke, it would be nice to have something that does go above and beyond in that department.

I'm really enjoying this, just beat the sister on kashyyk. Ive 'got gud' with the combat now and feel like a badass taking on large groups of enemies and not using a stim :datass:

Earlier on in the game I was fighting a sister for the first time, and really approached it with patience, ending up not taking a single hit, when the game put a cut scene in with bd1 saving me. "You saved my life!", erm no I'm pretty sure I could have beaten her there and then

I've got the double jump power now, roughly how far in to the game am I?

Near the end. You've got the trials of Dathomir, then two short visits to other places. Two to three hours remaining, I would think.

Ah balls :( Oh well, I can spin it out a bit more by going for 100% planet completion between then.

Got this for Christmas, on to the 2nd planet now (originally chose Dathomir, then read Zeffo is the more natural planet to choose) and I find fighting people significantly easier than fighting animals which seems odd. But enjoying it now i'm unlocking more moves. Very satisfying when you get it right and take out a team of stormtroopers, less so when I get killed by some small spider

I'm still getting the hang of the combat, but it's definitely getting better.

Just got the 2nd Force power so I'm having funpushing people and creatures off of things.

Not sure where to head next though. Can go to Dathomir or Kashyyk.

I'm enjoying it, but for sheer Jedi fun I still prefer the Jedi Knight games.

I'm right at the end of this now, so I'm going back through the levels to get everything. I think I've only got a few collectibles and echoes to find now (some have had me searching for hours :x ).

The combat is actually really clever in this. When you start out, you get wrecked pretty easily and it doesn't feel like you'd expect a Jedi to be fighting, but you're a learner with little training. When you start getting more powerful abilities it also coincides with you just generally getting better at it, so your natural skills coupled with more power makes it feel like you've genuinley learned. I love running across an enemy you'd leg it from early in the game, and then jsut strawberry floating them up without a hit 8-)

But those bastard rats and spiders, I've done major bosses barely taking a hit, yet I use 8 stims against 3 ratty bois

Those spiders can bugger off as I hate it when they jump out of nowhere attacking you.

I got this for my birthday on Monday.
Started it yesterday and OHMYWORD that opening level is so cinematic!

The old ships being taken apart, the visuals and textures are fantastic, it was action packed and felt like I was directing a movie!

The part where you ignite that lightsaber for the first time and take out those first two stormtroopers felt strawberry floating immense!

Also, special mention to how cool the bit on the train where you're dreaming was!
That part was so well done. I'm glad it wasn't spoiled for me. Felt like a scene from a film.

Instantly fell in love!

....then we went to the pretty boring cliff planet with the molerats and the spider thingies :|
Came as a bit of a snore-fest after that heavy hitting and incredible opening.

Just about to blast off to another planet this evening. Will report back.

It's a great opening and oozes star wars. I'm near the end and would say so far nothing has quite hit that high again, but there's still a lot of great THIS IS STSR WARS moments. There's some nice lore snippets in there too which are worth seeking out.

For those that have finished it, can you go and get any missed collectibles/areas after the ending, or do you have to get it all before?

You can go back after but you can't replay the ending.

Nah after the last mission which is in a distinct location you can still explore. You just can't (IIRC) do the last mission again

Thanks. I might just finish the story tonight then instead of getting the last bits.
