Darth Sidious' origin story?
Boba Fett's entire life?
The Old Republic?
Captain Rex's role in the Rebel Alliance, post-Yavin? (Haven't watched Rebels yet, don't know if he survived it.)
Ahsoka?

Lots of potential ground to cover.

I hope it's new characters and brand new stories.

Also, a Star Wars live action TV series is coming to a Disney subscription channel.

Disney is planning to launch an in-house streaming service by the end of 2019, and while we knew it was going to come with a catalogue of their film titles (sorry, Netflix), the studio isn’t just content to stream their most famous titles, they’re creating some buzzy new series to go with them.

During the company’s quarterly earnings call, Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced that they’re developing a number of TV series to air on the streaming service, based on some major IP. The big mic drop? A live-action Star Wars series; something that has been in demand and in the works for decades but never quite came together before.

I suppose I'll wait for the TV show to hit the high seas. Like hell do I have the money to subscribe to every new stupid streaming service.

New characters and new stories would be great, if I had any idea what direction they might be able to go in without running into old EU tropes.

Disney must be pretty happy with The Last Jedi to be planning this already.

Happy to hear that they are planning another trilogy, interesting that it is taking a different direction with it.

Happy to hear they are planning a live action tv show as well. But like strawberry float am I subscribing to another streaming service. I wonder if it will see a delayed release on tv across the world. I’m not sure if the Disney sub service is going to be available in every country.

If it's a corner of the galaxy never before explored, then I doubt any of your suggestions will be correct. ;)

If it's meaningless PR mumbo jumbo, then they might be right. ;)

If the EUs been wiped off the slate then everything could count as “never explored” :shifty:

Yeah it’s very difficult to work out what they mean. It could simply be that it will focus on some planets and characters never seen before but still set in the established timeline, just after or just before. Or it could be set hundreds of years (or more) in the past or future with nothing to do with the other films or jedi’s/sith’s.

New characters and worlds are a must, and new time periods are a necessity - but I remember reading an article just a few days ago that said Disney wanted to do more stories with Finn and Rey, post-IX. So, just how new this will be, I don't know.

I really wish they hadn’t of killed off Jyn in Rogue One, they easily could have made a further film set in the original trilogy with characters from Rogue One. I think that decision was very short sighted.

I think the final third, which makes the film, would have nowhere near the impact if they didn't kill them off

Plus, they needed a film in which plot armor didn't save the protagonists for the umpteenth time.

Yeah I get that. Part of me likes the ending and thinks it was a good move by them but another part of me would like to see another film of the same tone with some of the characters set in the original trilogy.

A Rogue Squadron or X-Wing VS TIE Fighter type movie could fit the bill, if done right. Largely unconnected to any known characters, with a few references here and there, it could show the rougher side of the Rebellion, similar to R1, but different too.

Or they could transplant the Firefly concept into Star Wars' universe.
