I starting watching it last weekend and finished it during the week... if you still haven't seen it yet then I'd recommend doing something else with the 3 hours of your life.

I don't like salt, it's rough and course, and it gets everywhere.

I enjoyed TFA and Rogue One, I just didn't care for TLJ. It looked and sounded great but it wasn't a very good film.

Piffle, I thought it was a pretty damn good film. Perhaps not Rogue One good in places, but a welcome addition to the franchise nonetheless.

Codswallop, I thought it was a poor attempt at storytelling. Perhaps not Phantom Menace bad in places, but a most unwelcome addition to the franchise.

It feels more like Star Wars should feel than the other prequels, the music is sublime, the action is both varied and riveting, the characters are interesting and different to who we find later in the timeline, and it both sets up the Skywalker arc and acts as a great stand-alone film in its own right. Yes, it suffers from some lamentable, clunky dialogue in places, and there is Jar Jar, but I think it works, and works well.

It’s a gooseberry fool film, but it’s better than the other two prequels.

At least the prequels had a story that was told through all 3 movies (Phantom Menace kind of being a standalone story from the other 5)

There have been two movies and I still don't understand how the Empire are where they are (after what?.. 30 years later since RotJ when they were defeated?) in TFA/TLJ. Leia has been a resistance fighter for like 80 years, she must be knackered  The Rebels/Resistance are apparently terrible at tactics (clearly on display in TLJ).

Empire gets beheaded, routed, defeated, flees into the Unknown Regions under the new banner of the First Order to plot its revenge. Sort of like if the whole British Empire were routed and the Bullingdon Club (plus a few army chaps) fled to darkest Africa.

The Resistance isn't that bad at tactics - I mean, they were smart enough to know to stay out of that big ship's kill zone, and they had a solid plan to escape. Unfolding events didn't exactly favor them in the end, but they didn't have a lot of other options, all things considered.

Can't wait to get The Last Jedi on BluRay, it's out early April isn't it? Not sure why the digital release was so much earlier than the physical release though.

I'm currently just watching The Phantom Menace (I quite often give them all another watch, thought now would be a decent time with The Last Jedi releasing shortly) and considering the recent discussion, The Last Jedi is far better than the prequels in my opinion. Worst of the prequels is Attack of The Clones which is just hugely cringe worthy in places.
