It's also retarded and the deaths make no sense and could have been completely avoidable.

I feel so bad for the people who waited all those years for a new Star Wars film, only to get the Phantom Menace.

Just look at the reaction here:

The poor saps, they had no idea what was in store for them!

I read in Simon Pegg's autobiography that after seeing the preview screening of The Phantom Menace, Peter Serafinowicz (the voice of Darth Maul) phoned Simon Pegg and said, "It's just not very good." Pegg still flew to New York to see it though

I've got the original trilogy in 1080P. They have been broadcast in HD before in Germany, and in the States. The German HD transfer from celluloid to digital form was considered to be the best.
I took the superior German H.264 picture quality edition originally posted by "Born In A Skip" (THANK YOU!!!), edited in the English opening crawl and subtitled Greedo and Jabba scenes from the Sky broadcasting H.264 originally posted by 'BK (THANK YOU TOO!!!!), time adjusted to 23.976 fps for NTSC, used the high quality 5.1 AC3 from the New Hope DVD and made what should be the most definitive 1080P High Definition version available. In some ways, I spent the time doing this so the official retail version would be announced making my efforts all worth nothing

8-)

It'd be nice to have high-res versions of the originals without some of the changes brought about by the newer releases. I'm not against changes such as correcting special effects mistakes, but the special editions have so many "Oh look, that's a CGI bit they added in" moments that stick out like a sore thumb and add nothing. There's even a bit where a huge dinosaur-esque creature covers the screen while main characters are talking and moving :fp: And that's before we get into this 'delight' from Return of the Jedi:

I actually kinda liked the prequels before seeing those infamous reviews. Now I hate them and I hate George Lucas with a passion. Fat cat money sucking sellout.

The third is by far the worst. Nothing in it makes any sense. We're meant to just sit there and watch our apparent heroes act like a bunch of complete buffoons as everything falls apart. No one in it has the slightest bit of sense, not even the great Yoda.

Quite frankly that RLM guy put it best when he said Anakin's downfall was not a story that needed to be told.

The reviews are very eye-opening. It's very clear from the behind the scenes footage that Lucas' entire production staff on the movies were afraid to say no to him, always laughing at his jokes, always going along with his ideas, etc.

That was the most striking part of the reviews. The fact that the story is complete nonsense you can work out for yourself if you keep your brain on throughout watching the movies (which I didn't cause Star Wars is popcorn movies lol), but the behind the scenes footage actually depressed me. It's like the crew is dealing with a demented mobster who'll burn their kids if they so much as say the wrong thing to him

Why does that matter though?

You said you liked it before you saw that footage, the film itself hasnt changed, merely your perception of the director.

Well it has always seemed a bit too shiny, graphically. I know they probably went for the whole baroque OTT scenery on purpose, but I'd have preferred it if they had made it a bit more like, say the LotR. More "realistic".

And I hated the whole Anakin -Padme love story the first time I saw it. Cringeworthy.

I liked the third one, even though it was unintentionally funny at times. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?!?! being the main culprits of bad acting/scriptwriting.

The outfit Natalie Portman wears towards the end of the film (during the bit where they get captured and in that amphitheatre saves the film.

The prequels truly are some of the worst fims I have ever seen. It just doesn't make any strawberry floating sense most of the time. I actually burst out laughing when I was in the cinema when Amidala dies. She lost her will to strawberry floating live???
George Lucas is a hack in the worst possible way. He got lucky with Star Wars. The Empire Strikes back is fantastic due to the late Irvin Kershner, Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan. The Return Of The Jedi is the weakest of the 3 movies, due to that useless banana split George sticking his neb in again.

The only good bit about the first film was the sabre duel and Darth Maul.
