Got it on PS4, done the prologue. Feels a little fuzzy in VR but then had a quick go on just the TV and it wasn't anywhere near as fun.

Just need to get my VR legs back on for this though!

Is it 60fps on non-VR PS4?

No issues. Although the graphics can be a bit washed out in VR but that’s the fault of the VR.

I can’t see not playing this on VR.

Why is the fleet battles tutorial bugged?

It's still telling me to destroy the power system when it's already been destroyed, and the star destroyer has 1hp remaining and it's entirely battered and smoking but straight up refuses to die. Like, I've done the damn thing, just let me finish it :x

EDIT: And again what the strawberry float  It just stopped giving me instructions that time. Didn't tell me a single thing to destroy on the Star Destroyer, so it isn't acknowledging that I've done anything.

EDIT 2: These rechargable lasers are a prick, too. That's not canon :x

I've gone ahead and ordered a VR bundle and the game. Game will be here in a fortnight but the bundle will arrive Sunday.

Looking forward to finally seeing what all this VR mumbly joe is all about.

The TIEs at least join onto the other ships to jump. They do in the prologue, anyway :shifty:

I played the tutorial opening mission in VR and really enjoyed it. It looks amazing despite slight fuzziness(PSVR)

So, I decided I'd go online and as it's day one I figured I'd hold my own...I got decimated for my first few matches and then had a couple of good ones, then back to decimation. I kept getting enemies behind who twatted me, despite barely being spawned more than 10 seconds. Still enjoying it though. I think I need more practice against the AI before heading back online :)

So apparently there's some huge issues with HOTAS deadzones. I thought it was just me being crap but lots of people are having issues with over-shoot and sensitivity no matter what settings they use. A post on the official forums apparently states EA are aware of the issue and will be sorting out a fix.

Will try with a gamepad tomorrow, see how that goes instead.

EDIT: Holy gooseberry fool this feels so much better with a gamepad. It's like a different, better, game.

I really struggle with turning quickly, I really miss the button combo from Rogue Squadron to do it for me haha.

I'm loving all the stuff I never discovered like being able to focus the direction of your shields and change your targeting. Glad I'm playing the story or I probably would've never found out.

That Rogue Squadron name drop <3

Does this have the multiplayer aspect available if your are offline? I don’t have PS+, and little desire to get it, but would like to know if the experience is massively hampered by not having it.

I'd put it down to being out of practice with it but this would explain a lot. Felt like I was constantly overshooting when trying to aim at things.

I may wait until they patch this because I want to get the use out of my HOTAS.

Finished the campaign, which I felt ended just as it was getting good. If they'd added some dialogue options, maybe some side-missions, it would have been a worthy sequel to the old 1993 LucasArts games. As it is, it's merely a pretty good intro to the systems. It's still the best single-player Star Wars campaign EA have produced however (not including Respawn's Fallen Order)

Tried out a bunch of the MP and it's waaaay more fun than I anticipated. Everyone's at the "I don't really know what I'm doing" stage of online MP which means I can swoop in and actually do OK. Like, top 2 in all the matches I played ok. I imagine that'll change toot sweet chop chop when people actually learn how to get good.

Again, I cannot state how much better this plays on a pad.

EDIT:

There's a versus AI mode but it's pretty barebones. This is primarily an online multiplayer game I'd say, with the campaign being a short (4 or 5 hours) intro to the systems.

If you're not planning on playing online, I'd wait.

Barebones? Fleet Battles - the main mode of the game - against AI is barebones? Surely you're talking of the practise mode only with that.

Even playing on easy the Fleet Battles feel far too much for solo play. I take out the two capital ships, then get within a kilometre of the flagship and I'm wrecked and have to wait like 15 seconds to respawn, by which point the AI has gained control :dread:

Yeah, the AI are absolute nuts on easy. I've barely scraped through the wins I've got on solo.

I did my first solo AI Fleet Battle on normal and eeked out a win with about 20% hull on my Star Destroyer. Was super fun though.

Not really. I can't see any replayability in that mode if you're not playing co-op.

Fair enough. Not everyone would see it that way, though.
