Star Wars Squadrons - The Modern Day X-Wing vs TIE Fighter

There will be gameplay for this shown at EA Play Live tonight at 11pm, just so everyone knows how much longer we can have hope that this isn't going to be a microtransaction shit-fest.

Before they showed the gameplay and the developer was talking I could tell he "got it". He knew what made those 90's sims so special and the gameplay seemed to back that up.

I'm doubtful it will support joysticks, but I'm so on board I can't wait. Day 1.

All that's left is for EA to mess it up with Microtransactions.

This... actually looks like the evolution of starfighter gameplay that I was looking for.

But it also seems like a fairly compact little game, a proof of concept that will hopefully lead to larger successor games, where, say, players can control those mid-sized cruisers.

I like what I'm seeing. It's certainly moving up in interest for me, and the fact they confirmed solo play for the fleet battles mode makes me more interested to play it (so I don't have to show myself up online). I did have a feeling I was seeing Rae Sloane on the Imperial side, and I'm interested to see just how this story will play out.
