All I know about the film is that some stuff happens in space and that for some unknown reason they use swords rather than laser guns.
Oh and Darth Vader will be mentioned at some point in the film but they will completely overlook Jaja Binks (sp?).

I hope not, Mostly because it goes against what the Jedi are. So I wouldn't like the idea of him going against that again.

Think Skippys idea was good, parents freaked out and left her when she was a kid.

She could be a Kenobi. I would much rather she wasn't related to anyone though

Really enjoyed it although if I'm honest I did leave a little disappointed. Not really sure why to be honest, might have just been from the shock of what happened to Solo (lol),I'd have to put that down as one of the most emotional scenes I've ever witnessed in a cinema before. I noticed some people were covering their mouths in disbelief, such a weird feeling waiting this long to see a much loved character return and for that to happen.

My initial thoughts having just watched it are:

- Too many CG characters for my liking, I wish they had stuck to people in funny suits.
- The sets were fantastic, everything from the black shiny walkways to the computer screens were completely faithful to the original trilogy.
- Kylo Ren seemed really bad ass until it was revealed he was young Professor Snape.
- Found it hard to believe that two people who had never seen a light sabre before could hold their own against a fully fledged Jedi.
- Some of the jokes fell flat and a couple were outright cringe worthy.
- Some of the Falcon scenes were far too slapstick.
- I didn't understand why Han kept taking Chewie's gun.

Overall, we know how truly woeful it could have been so these are fairly minor gripes. Can't wait for the next one.

There's nothing in the original trilogy that says Jedi can't have children and they appear to be distancing themselves from the prequel trilogy. If they have to take the prequels into account then they could easily explain it away as either Luke being unaware of this rule since their order was destroyed and Yoda never told him or that things changed because otherwise the Jedi would become extinct or at the very least rarer.

I don't think she'll end up being his daughter though.

This isn't universal praise!!!!

Quick lads, kill him!
It's not perfect no. But it is VERY good.
There were only two CGI characters that I noticed (Snoke and Maz). Any others were background at best. I do agree it would have been better to have real people for them, but I can't say I thought any less of the characters for it. Jar Jar they aint.
As for Kylo, I think they make it very clear that he is far from a fully fledged Jedi/Sith at this point. Powerful yes, but not completely trained. He'd been shot before the fight with Finn/Rey as well. Not to mention he's clearly being pulled in two completely different directions. But it was a bit of a stretch I'll admit.
As for the humour I liked all of it. My only real issue with it would be that there was perhaps a little bit too much of it and some of it could have been trimmed with no ill effect to the movie.

It's gonna be a LONG wait for Episode VIII. Looking forward to Rogue One though.

If Rey is anyone's kid I think she's Han and Leia's. There are too many traits to suggest she's Han's progeny (ace pilot in the Falcon, skills in hacking tech, crackshot with a blaster) and her affinity with the Force could come from her mother's side. There needs to be a way for them to raise the stakes for the sequels when she goes up against Kylo Ren again, so discovering he's her brother (and killed her father) would tie it all together nicely. They could even be twins, if they want to go off the deep end with the "history repeating" theme.

Anyway, just out, and it was strawberry floating magnificent.

That was my first thought. But you'd think Han or Leia would have mentioned having a daughter. Would be a bit odd them just completely ignoring it.

Just like you'd think Obi Wan would have mentioned Darth Vader was Luke's father?

Plus, it was a little convenient for Han to stumble across the Millenium Falcon accidentally like that the second she left the planet. It makes more sense if he was alerted to her going off-world and came straight in to pick her up.

Absolutely loved this and am SO glad I wasn't spoiled on it! Gave a certain scene an immeasurable amount of tension as a result.

This was such an engaging and exciting blockbuster, with immensely likeable characters and a great sense of scope and adventure. I was surprised how dark it was at times, but it didn't go too far ala Episode III.

Also, it'd be hilarious to put this back to back with the prequels....comparing how flat and dull they are with how full of energy and swift inventive camera movement this is...I guess JJ decided not to be stuck on the chair drinking coffee, actually choosing to direct!

I thought it was pretty clear that Rey is Luke's daughter.

I think its extremely unlikely her character is completely unrelated to anyone given how much prevalent her being left behind on Jakku was, its got to fit in to some part of the story.

Just come out and I didn't really enjoy it.

Story just didn't seem very interesting to me, maybe because it's basically just a rehash of Episode 4. I liked all the new characters but they lacked some weight behind them making them feel kind of throwaway. BB8 was a bit too much of a Christmas toy cash grab, but it did grow on me after the thumbs up thing.

Rent I thought was a great villain but the Han and Leia son reveal seemed kind of wasted and I'd have preferred it be someone new as a result his motivation just seemed ridiculous. It became obvious Solo was going to die about half and hour before he did, don't know what flagged it up to me but was a shame it wasn't more out of the blue.

Liked all the action sequences fine enough though they all seemed a bit run of the mill and there never seemed like any genuine peril. I liked the pilot character and him taking out Ties on the forest planet place was probably the part I enjoyed the most.

Overall just felt a bit underwhelmed by the whole thing, there aren't huge parts of it that I found bad at all but there was plenty that just seemed poorly put together. Worst thing I can say about it is just that it was a bit boring

Would probably give it a 6 or 7 on first watch. I'd like to see it again though as maybe I just over thought some of it after the start, which I didn't really like.

Time for adventure

Just got back, not sure what I make if it. Kylo Ren was a more whiny bitch that Anakin, he looked like an absolute weed by the end. Taking his mask off was a horrific mistake. It was completely predictable, I knew exactly how it was going to end by the half way point.

There were some very nice bits, finding the Falcon was nice, Han and Chewie were as great as ever, the battle scenes were fantastic and the storm troopers were incredible. Then there were some weird bits, jokes falling completely flat, Poe was excellent but completely ignored and the lack of C3PO and R2 surprisingly really showed. What happened to Han completely lacked any emotional impact on anyone really. Some of the CGI was absolutely abysmal, Snoke is not in the slightest bit intimidating as result. It felt like an Abrams reboot, like a remake of A New Hope rather than a new chapter.

Need to see it again to really settle my mind on it.

Absolutely loved it.

Potential casting error with Ren (his fabulous hair is ridiculous ) and definite casting error with that ginger General. Not really the actor's fault, but he should simply be 15-20 years older.

All of the scenes scenes involving Tie Fighters or X-Wings were incredible.

I want to see it again already!

Watched it a second time this afternoon.

I really think Rey is Luke's daughter, ace pilot, good with tech, good with the force. Has visions of Luke when she touches his lightsaber in Maz's basement. And in that battle with Kylo when she uses the force to grab the lightsaber and turns it on for the first time, they play Luke's theme. They don't do this for Fin.

The worst bit for me, was R2 just waking up at the end seemingly without provocation just to reveal he has the map. Surely that could have been squeezed in better?

EDIT: How awesome is Poe by the way? Not getting anywhere near enough love, he might be my favourite new character.

Poe was excellent and massively underused.

The scene with he and Finn in the Tie Fighter was brilliant. They had such good chemistry. I just wish he was in it more.
