But that means giving my more money to EA D:

I had a go when they did a free weekend a while back after the legacy update, and got pissed off at all the skill points being reset and couldn't remember how to get my jedi knight the way he was  :fp:

Have they balanced the characters yet? Or is the Bounty Hunter/Trooper still ridiculously OP and the Jedi's utterly gooseberry fool?

Gona go rip the piss out of my mate even more for buying the collectors edition now, especially since he's gone over to Secret World  :fp:

It was inevitable after losing nearly 800,000 paid members in such a short time. It'll be riddled with micro transactions, but I'd be willing to try it out on the cheap at least.

Ouch.
Wonder how this is going to work then. An absolutely everything is Micro transaction model, or a more DC Universe online option where you can keep paying a subscription and get everything, or go free to play but have to buy add-on/DLC content and lockbox unlock keys seperately.

crossposted from pcgt

Subscription – A service designed for players who want unrestricted access to all the game features via ongoing subscription or by redeeming a Game Time Card. In addition to gaining access to all game content as our current subscribers do now, subscribers will receive ongoing monthly grants of Cartel Coins, the new virtual currency that will be introduced later this fall. Cartel Coins can be used to purchase valuable in-game items including customizable gear and convenience features that will enhance the game play experience.

Free-To-Play – The first 50 levels will be Free-to-Play, with restrictions on access to new content and advanced player features. Some restrictions can be "unlocked" with Cartel Coins.

That sounds almost exactly like the DC Universe Online F2P model (which I've just started getting back into).
A free subscription gives you the full game, but none of the DLC packs and anything beyond the basics has to be paid for with in-game currency.
If you pay for 'Legendary' access however (the usual £8.99/month) then you get all the DLC thrown in, and a set amount of in-game currency credited to your account every month.

To be honest it's the best way to go in my opinion. People who want F2P can get it, but those who don't want to worry about anything being locked out can keep subscribing for a while, then eventually go F2P if they want and keep all their in-game currency.

Still, this has been a pretty damn dramatic failure.

I hope this comes into action before my sub runs out. Then I can mock poor people who dont have premium features.

I shall give this another go when it goes free. I liked it but not enough for a sub.

I do this in Battlefield 3.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Grabbed this in GAME today for under £7, I know it's going free, but i'd rather have the discs to minimise the epic download/patch marathon, and I was hoping to get into the "playing before F2P" bonus stuff, but no matter. I'll play it as a bioware single-player RPG when I fancy a break from GW2.

I shall now await falsey to come in and say how much of a busta I am/whinge about this game/claim how awesome he is for buying this at full price/playing for longer than I have or some other unbelievably predicatable combination of the above...

Wow what a sucka punk giga busta, finally realising that GW2 just wont cut the cake and now wants a piece of the sub action. This game is crap and I still bought it and a sub, thats how reckless cool I am and Ive been playing for ages now, Im basically a veteran.

Roll a charater, hit me up, we'll go (space) bowling.

Looking at the sub/free comparisons, it really looks like free players get owned - no (what I assume are) raids, and limited access to other stuff each week. Think i'll keep this in the background, play through the story arcs then move on in between other games, if I don't take it back tomorrow sealed after realising the error of my ways :shifty:
