Yeah, green, amber, red depending on how likely they were to pass I think?

Love being colourblind. I usually just winged it and rarely failed.

Aside from the colours you were more likely to succeed if you chose answers that matched the personality of who you were talking to. By choosing the ‘right’ answer you could could pass a check in one turn that would otherwise fail.

I did like getting a critical success. I had it on the final discussion at the end (pretty much the end.)

I thought you were taking the piss and suggesting you just mash A to select the first option :fp:

I've chosen a few others that have won the check outright, but you can usually just pick the top one every time.

I got the mind control implant from the Ryujin questline and got to keep it after convincing them to shut down the project to make persuasion easier.

I decided to uninstall this since I have finished the story, and I have no real desire to play this any time soon.

Yes there are new spanglies and some really fun missions but the underlying game feels dated.
Simple things like including ways to communicate with quest givers do not even seem to have been a consideration in conjunction with BS fetch quests.
The constant loading screens takes me back to the 2000's.
The colonies were so empty and so small and very bland.
Tracking down Temples was dull and really felt like an afterthought.
1000 planets is great unless you don't make it compelling (quests) to go there.
Cookie cutter bases and dungeons, you end up walking the same paths in them all unless it's for the main quest or faction mission.
Scanning was boring, look at green, now its blue.
Taking over a ship, after the first time I asked myself is that it? and the minimal rewards for doing it.

The universe didn't feel alive and vibrant.

Quite frankly if they continue down this path on how they make RPG's The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be the same and it is quite disappointing to think about.

Best this game gets is a 6/10, it's fine. It's the socks you get for xmas from your family as they had to get you something.

It's the brown of RPG's.

Think I agree with all of that to be honest.
Really struggling to get excited to play it again... haven't touched it for days.

I suppose we should have learned by now about Todd Howard's skills with hyperbole, but I'm still disappointed it wasn't the 2nd coming of RPG games that it was alluded to be.

I'm guessing that perceptions about the game were always gonna run like this; it was - deservedly! - such a "hype" game with so many people playing it and, naturally, the gameplay just isn't going to satisfy everyone. If folk are into the Elder Scrolls / Fallout style of gameplay then this game seems to be a fun evolution of that; but maybe not revolution.

I'd imagine that, rather like No Man's Sky, Starfield will get lots of updates and additions over the next couple of years and this will hopefully broaden the gameplay. I'm still very eager to give it a play albeit I'm struggling to think that I'd go dual-console in the current economic environment.

I don't think it even counts as evolution, in some ways it's a regression of their formula. Even if it was just "more of the same" there comes a time like now when (IMO) that's not good enough any more.

BGS games were rarely, if ever, the best in class at any one element, but you could give them a pass for the scale of the thing and for doing stuff that others weren't even trying. But the competition has moved on and it's much harder to cut them slack when each aspect of your game is now so far behind the leaders.

It’s by no means a bad game. But equally not excellent or superb. Not a 9 or 10 out of 10. Can’t argue with anything from xeno. It filled a hole briefly. More games deserve my time in the coming months.

I have similarly put the game down due to going abroad for bit and come back with little inclination to play it. I've spent about 20 hours with the game and it's been good, but I feel like I've seen everything it has to offer. It was fine - an enjoyable 20 hours but do I really want to spin it out to 80.

I think it's the weakest out of Bethesda's trilogy of IPs too. For all the criticism it received, I much prefer Fallout 4.

I can see why some people really like it but, even then, I think it's got some very obvious flaws that, objectively, should be getting highlighted in critical assessments of the game.

It's a 7 from me probably.

A good quest can make it feel like an 8 but there's not enough of them, when it's in the worst kind of "endless load screens just to go and say one line/press one button on 3 different planets" loop (which is a lot) it would feel generous to give it more than a 5.

When the game is in the loop of what I want from it, i love it. I'm currently on Neon and the place feels like a deus ex style environment with some fun, if a bit simple quests I'm doing. Been having a great time on it this morning.

On the other hand, the planet hopping is gooseberry fool, and the exploration of planets is so dull and one dimensional.

Not a fan of ship components being locked behind player level even if you already have the necessary skill for them.

I think I’m done with all the faction quests now and can concentrate on getting the main campaign done. Should be done fairly soon if I don’t get distracted.

48 hours in and still absolutely loving it, I understand some peoples issues but the stuff I like just far outweighs the bad for me..

It would be in my top 5 games I have enjoyed most this generation list.

It also reminds me of Deus Ex quite a lot. But when those comparisons flash across my brain, I'm also reminded by just how much more depth Deus Ex has (even the new ones, which are considered somewhat watered down when judged against the 2000 original).

Again, Starfield is a Bethesda game so it has loads of breadth (a massive universe! Loads of stats and skills to spec! Thousands of NPCs!) but it's all pretty much for nought. Bar persuasion and being able to alter things there, I would hazard a guess that the scope for player agency and doing things your own way are severely limited. You get a quest in Deus Ex and you can approach it a number of ways; in Starfield, you're in a theme park and often compelled to just follow the markers with all players doing the same thing.

It seems almost like the anti-Deus Ex for me, a mile wide but an inch deep. None of the systems have any refinement to them and the lack of agency for the player and scope to approach things in different ways is a real killer IMO
