I'm not sure if other players of the game would agree with me, but I'd suggest being a little wary of buying the discounted physical edition starter packs.

The game is - I feel - great fun but it does require additional ships / pilots / guns to get the most from it and, at present, these have not been discounted. If you're unsure about diving in, I'd recommend waiting for the price of the Digital Deluxe (download) version to fall; it includes all of the add-ons.

I'm not denying that the physical kit certainly looks nice, though :) .

Yeah I wouldn't agree, the game was still great fun without buying any additional ships, characters or weapons. I didn't want to change ship or character as I was all about Fox in an Arwing, so it was only weapons that I occasionally felt like I was missing out (mostly because some chests and spires require stasis or gravity effects to open), but the game is very playable without them.

The discounted starter pack is easily the cheapest way of playing the game, plus the Arwing is a very nice thing to have!

I’m looking forward to playing this. Picked up the starter pack on Amazon. Any idea what weapons you would need to buy to have access to all the different elements? You get three included, but not sure how many other types there are?

The digital deluxe version is massively discounted on Switch. What do people think, is it actually worth £45? I mean forgetting the discount, that's still the price of a full AAA release?

I completed the game in 35 hours, not 100% but with most content done. If you aren't so invested you could probably do it in half that, but with all the extra content in the digital version you also have more replayability. That might give you an idea of worth by time played.

Question, i’m Thinking of starting this tonight (Switch) i’ll be playing handheld. In order to access the Starfox content, do I need to attach stuff to the Switch first and scan the ship? If so, Is this something you need to do all the time or just a one and done thing?

I think you have them unlocked digitally too. If not, once linked physically you can use the same parts for a week digitally before needing to relink them physically.

You can just choose to play digitally only and it automatically just gives you all the content. Don't need to attach anything etc.

Levi really has an inflated ego. It's obvious when not playing as him, but when you are he really hammers it in.
"It's me. The hero. The only one. Yup."

Yeah, the characters are the worst part of the game. I get that it's maybe more meant to be aimed at kids but they're mostly lifeless, unlikeable when they're not lifeless and the voice actors they used just have an annoying grate to them.

It's shame because the ship movements and the gameplay over all if pretty good. It's a bit samey but I can put up with a little grind. The story is as generic and average as to be expected but well within the remit of bearable.

This is why you play as Fox. I quite like Eli, and he's the one you usually get dialog from other than your pilot. The characters are pretty generic but the actual planet design/lore I think is really cool.

Yeah, why would you not be playing as Fox? If you bought it on another platform. Why did you not want to play as Fox?

I thought I'd play it as the main guy first and then Switch to Fox for the StarFox stuff.

And I'm playing through on a second file after completing the first with Fox.

This works using a physical cart as well?

If memory serves you need to connect the physical things once a week and then you can select play digitally.

Ahh right, it’s a pain you have to connect the bits once a week but I can see why.
