It’s nowhere near as deep as he’s making out -
Build an allotment so people don’t starve, but get a chef to cook a good meal to give everyone a health boost.
Build an infirmary so people don’t die
That’s pretty much it, in terms of base building/management. If I have patience for it, then anyone can.

It’ll be interesting to see how wel this one does. The first was overhyped to strawberry float and the openworld/zombie/eat food genres have all become less popular these days

The missus loves the look of this game, but I think it looks dull as strawberry floating dishwater. So of course she wants to co-op play the entire damn thing with me.

I think they’ve doubled down on the management malarkey, it’s a very unusual game though. It’s like left 4 dead meets the sims meets dead rising. Not for everyone.
Perma death is also pretty unique.

I'd advise watching the above video on a big screen as its very dark. I did last night and wow....the 'jank' has gone, also the effects and weapons are all on point.

I can't think of a game that blends the stuff SoD does but I'd put it WAY ahead of DayZ which is still in early access, I watched a video on it recently and they were adding ladder climbing animations...
For me this is the best Zombie franchise around bar none, pity you wont be getting brer as its cross play (although via Windows 10)

I think I'm with you, I just don't think I'm into any sort of base building. The video above looks like they're compensating for the simplistic gameplay with over elaborate base building. I don't mind repetitive gameplay if the gameplay is top notch but this looks decidedly average, I really don't think anyone would give a gooseberry fool if it wasn't an Xbox exclusive.

Have you played the first one?
Brer has at least so I get where he’s coming from. The loot searching in neighbourhoods trying not to alert a horde is key to me as is the base building but as I said I love that side of things, they were the only things to make me forget the jankiness.
I said for a long time this is the game I’ve been most excited about and I still am. Hope SoT’s can keep me going while I wait a couple of months longer. When I got SoD YOSE I played it to completion and put about 30hrs in at least, no other game in recent memory grabbed me. It’s just my type of game.

Design director Richard Foge walks us through the changes and upgrades to State of Decay 2's character system. As you can see, the personalities of your community members are a lot more detailed.
