Good question!

Jenuall really had his ego flourish in his finale

Ooh, tough choice. Jenuall's ending sounds like something from a Pegg and Frost film - especially World's End. Ironhide's is short and sweet, with a totally twisted end as what the GRail is. Clarkman's is definitely consistent the most with the overall story, with perhaps thee best end of the three.

Clarkman it is for me.

Well when the brief said to make ourselves the only man left standing at the end it felt a shame not to take advantage of that option!

Hopefully it came across as "OTT for humorous effect" and not "man this guy genuinely thinks he's amazing, what a tool!" :slol:

Question: Is the winners vote just amongst the audience now, or as the final storytellers do we get to vote for which of the other two we think should win?

Post in the thread, it's nice for people to have visibility that their endings have been read I think!

Man though that Jenuall guy genuinely thinks he's amazing, what a tool

Actual vote is the audience, but feel free to comment and say who you would vote for if you like anyway.

Managed to read two of the endings so far, and I love both of them. I LOVE the larger glass being the GRail

Clarkman totally deserves this and has my vote too but I really liked all the endings.

(Ironhide I don't know what you were so nervous about, your writing's fine and your ending was very funny!)

No worries.

This tool thinks that Clarman deserves the win, for contributions throughout and not just for this impressive finale!

Happy with that :D

I think I might have put that World's End bit purely because it was the most easily recalled with the password being the same as the last words of the Network.

Woah now, World's End is a great film.

The GRail being a larger glass seems so obvious an idea now it has been said, yet I hadn't thought of it at all.

It's good, but the consensus is that it's the weakest of the trilogy. ;)

No worries, There are far worse things to be compared to than World's End! :D

Man, if Jenuall wasn’t genuinely so amazing, I’d think he was a tool!

Ironhide, you did way better than I could have!

Easily one of my fave forum games. Well done to everyone for making this so much fun. Bring on the sequel!

Clarkman wins it for me. The Diehard numbers ending is perfection.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I definitely put more work into this game than I expected to upon signing up! I had kind of an unfair disadvantage, as I had an ending in mind already when I was drafting the penultimate day.

I really wanted the GRail to be something important to the forum which hadn’t yet featured in the story – I had already mined the Archive for a lot of meme material! The Photoshop threads in particular were a joy to revisit.

The temptation is there to George Lucas the whole story and tighten some elements to make it a more consistent and well-signposted narrative, but I’m delighted by how this all came together! A reminder of the creative talent and flair we have on the forum, and a true celebration of our rich history. Not just from the 10 years of GRcade and the mad personalities here, but GamesRadar before us, in combination with the different flavours of SONM, Poopgang, GNamer, etc.

So, what's the correct order, or is that a debate of the forum's future?

1>2>3 obviously! And just as in Clarkman's excellent ending to this story people do often get the top two in the wrong order. ;)

2 > 1 > 3 :x

I'm glad this seems to have had such a good reception, I had no idea how it would go or what interest there would be. I'll give it to 9pm as said so everyone has a chance to vote before officially declaring the winner, and then if it sounds reasonable I'll abuse my mod-lite powers to put together a thread of just the story posts, but with each post correctly owned by its author.

Definitely do this! Shouldn't be too difficult if you make the thread & posts yourself then just reassign the authors of each post.

Yay, looking forward to the story thread.

When do we hear back about our publishing deal with Faber & Faber?

Couldn't get hold of Faber & Faber, but British London are very enthusiastic. They've got a slot as long as we can finish our rewrite ASAP.

It would mean a lot to me if anyone was prepared to consider preordering my actual book, out 6th September in all good stores and online shops :shifty:
