I always find covers like this a little weird, likewise how you don't like the original version but like this one. It's literally doing nothing with the song but changing out the vocalist. I can't see how you can like one version but not like not the other. It shows how versitile the original is, if you can replace the vocals and it still works.
For me, with a good cover version, you should be able to listen to them in either order and not be able to tell which is the cover.
The Knife's Heartbeats and Jose Gonzalez stand out for me as immediate examples. I always thought the former was the cover version.
When I was 18 or so and going to nightclubs, The Futurehead's cover of Hounds of Love was pretty popular, and worth a listen.
Likewise, Camera Obscura's version of Abba's Supertrooper is good too. I'm drunk and can't be bothered to link it those two myself so go use the Internet, you lazy bastards.
