Not gotten round to season 3 of this yet, too busy watching Black Mirror but this is next on my list once I finish that. Sounds like I'm in for a treat when I do having enjoyed season 2 which seems to be generally considered the weakest of the 3 so far.

They are actually doing a pretty good job progressing things with this. I'm just over halfway through.

Steve is great in this season. I felt like he was an unlikeable cock in the first season. Robin brings out the best in him

Are you on the second or third season? Steve was a dick for most of the first, but became really lovable in the second.

I was still getting over my 'Steve is a dick' beliefs in Season 2. I'm halfway through Season 3 now.

Erica is strawberry floating great. But then she was always great. Glad she's in it more this season.

I think season 3 of this is one of my favourite season of a show in years. It just works so well for me, and I think it helps I didn't rewatch the others so the novelty of being back with the characters helped. The early episodes were great for just letting them be themselves before it all kicked off.

cried my eyes out at El crying over hoppers death.

I pray he’s not dead, he’s one of my favourite characters.

An excellent series and season.

Just watched from Season 1 last Thursday to the end of Season 3 today. Amazing, loved every single minute of it and I'm praying for another season.

Funny thing is I said to my friend season 2 was giving me Invasion of the Body Snatchers vibes and then season 3 happened. I love how every single character has a purpose and without every single one of them the story couldn't progress. In shows with a big cast that rarely ever works but here it's done perfectly.

What's the betting Hop didn't die, but was pulled into the Upside Down when the thing exploded and he's the American in the Gulag in Russia at the end?

I think it’s too obvious that Hop is the American in the gulag, but I fully expect him to still be alive.

S4 theory

El has to get her powers back to save Hopper but can only do so by getting help from the other kids with abilities from that episode :toot:

I actually enjoyed that episode from Season 2. To me I felt it gave a little more back story to who El was as a person and gave her more of a purpose moving forward and goals.

We didn't see him die, so it's inevitably going to be him there.

The matter of how he survived will be interesting. I assumed initially that he leapt into the Upside Down to escape the machine, but that doesn't gel with his probable incarceration on the other side of the world.

What I meant was Hop will still be alive and need rescuing from the Upside Down.

But the American in the gulag will be somebody else.

Just finished it and really loved it. Such a perfect ending, not sure I want any more El and the rest. I think they've earned a quiet life.

The Duffer Brothers agree with this, although a Season 4 is coming, they have said "bad things can't keep happening to these guys".

Season 4 is said to be bigger than Hawkins and take in other places in the US.

That's what I'm starting to think now, too.

I wonder if it might be one of the other people with powers?

That'd be awful. I love Stranger Things because of the characters. If it wasn't for the good characters I don't see how it'd keep my interest. It'd be like replacing the cast of friends or Frasier.

They might be able to pull it off. But I like how focused it is when contained in a town.

The American may be Bremmer, aka Eleven's "dad." Would explain how the Russians know about the upside world experiments.

I haven't finished season 3 yet but isn't it possible they could just move to another town? That episode in season 2 where they found that other girl for example.
