Finished S3 last night - really enjoyed it overall. Felt like it sagged in the middle a touch, but the final 2 episodes were really good.

My wife cried her eyes out when Hopper "died" (I don't think he's dead, and I don't think he's the American in the gulag), I just couldn't help but think that all of these kids are going to be seriously strawberry floated up when they're older.

Product placement was fine, and if stuff like that bothers you in a show set in a particular time period then you're a weirdo that probably enjoys New Coke :dread:

I didn’t even consider it was product placement at be time. In retrospect, it’s obvious, but at the time it just felt like another part of the 80s theme.

And all the references to brands were done in a humorous way in my opinion. The New Coke bit just felt like a nod to a famous moment in the 80s.

Onto episode 6 of series 3 and its amazing so far.

Ok just finished off season 3, why are people thinking that Hopper somehow survived the ending? Because there was a small hole he could have jumped down? The rest of the people who were even near the explosion (barring Joyce) were all killed instantly, obviously the line about the American at the end could be referring to Hopper but it seems a little too perfect in my opinion.

Fantastic series overall though.

The guy who played Hopper is signed up for 4 seasons...could be flash backs but they didn’t actually show him disintegrate like the others and they could have easily done it for it to be final.

Yeah I suppose by not showing him actually die they’re leaving it open, I also had no idea he was signed up for the 4th series but I could definitely see that being flashbacks after how he apparently met his end.

Cue Hopper appearing in episode 1 of series 4 about to be fed to the Demogorgon....

Possible of course, but considering how he seemingly died it’d feel a bit too perfect to have him come back mainly ok after a spell in a Russian jail.

I don’t think he’s dead but I also don’t think it’s him in the Russian jail.

I’d actually prefer if that was the case, if they do keep him alive of course, have it be another American who the Russians have captured rather than Hopper who would fit almost too well.

Me too. I think this was the start of the show simply forgetting stuff that'd happened. They even had to write in a scene of Brienne confirming it.

He is definitely alive, go back and watch the scene where the portal machine explodes, he is literally not standing where he was right before the screen went to black. I feel like that cut to black was intentional to hide where he went.
