Did people actually think that she wasn't going to be in it? Or at the very least, weren't sure? I thought that that was the most obvious thing going forward.
It won't be a flashback, it's not a spoiler, she'll probably be back from the very off.
Hopper was already leaving her supplies in the last episode of Season 1.

I'm gonna remain a tad sceptical about this. The turn around time on this has been ridiculously fast, hope they had a long term goal as opposed to say season 2 of True Detective.

It'll have been a year and three months by the time it returns, that's a longer seasonal gap than most shows.

But you also have to consider that they'll have filmed and completed every episode by the release day, unlike most shows.

Always got the impression that Season 1 was only part of a longer story, I reckon they may have penned season 2 before getting the green light from netflix.
As a marketing ploy, Season 2 for haloween is genius, worked wonders associating Gilmore Girls with Thanks giving in the states.
