Both fair points and under consideration.

Pepsi started taking a large market share back in the day, so coke actually changed their recipe to taste more like Pepsi and get the people back. This was new coke. People hated it apparently. This lead to classic coke coming back. People then bought more of that.

It's a bit of a psychology thing, like those awful spearmint polos. People buy those, don't like them and then buy ones they do like which they wouldn't have bought in the first place.

It wouldnt surprise me if new coke came back in a limited edition for bellends to buy and go OMFG STRANGER THINGS NEVER-ENDING STORY EGGOS I DUMP YOUR ASS LOL to take to conventions.

I have heard of New Coke, but don't remember it at the time.

Although Ad7 would think me a bellend, I would like to know what it actually tasted like and so I approve of them bringing it back as a limited edition.

Coca-Cola partnered with Netflix to resell New Coke in a “New Coke and Stranger Things 1985 Limited Edition Collector’s Pack.” It’s just two cans of New Coke and two bottles of Coke Coke and Coke Zero with Stranger Things labels, but yes, it’s back.

1 deal among 75 different deals with various brands.

This straight up isn't true, or is at least very carefully worded. At the start of several season 3 episodes Netflix threw up a "This show contains paid product placement" notification. Which makes this:

This story has been updated to include a statement from a Netflix spokesperson, indicating that there is no official product placement in season 3 of “Stranger Things” and that no brands have paid to be featured in the show.

Really strawberry floating bizarre.

Also worth noting this:

https://consequenceofsound.net/2019/06/ ... romotions/

Of special note are promotions from, BURGER KING, Coke and Nike which are all prominently featured in the show.

They may not have paid directly for a mention, but they were clearly written into the scripts to take advantage of sponsorship partnerships.

The ridiculous coke one aside, the worst was hopper getting out of a car with a BURGER KING bag in his mouth, which then had the BURGER KING logo feature prominently on screen for no reason other than promotion.

I thought the 3 minute scene of Lucas slowly drinking a New Coke, basically turning to the camera and going "Aaah, delicious" and the gang then having a conversation based entirely around Coke was pretty strawberry floating diabolical too.

Its awful. I know its in most things, but this was Truman show level placement but without the irony. Just needed someone walking in to every room holding out a 6 pack of coke.

We're quite far in to watching the Sopranos and the product placement in that is just embarrassing. Everything the drink (including coke of course) has the can turned towards the camera, even when it does a shot from a different point of view, it changes then too :fp: They also steal things (real products) which get some nice screen time along with them saying how great said product is.
