I kinda have to agree

Sure he can't pick up weapons but who gives a strawberry float when you can air combo people

It feels weird going back to other characters and not being able to combo anything cool in the air or have a dash. I can literally only play Adam, Cherry and Shiva, the other characters are just so slow

I'm actually finding Shiva the trickiest of the new characters. It's the landing from the air combo that trips me up as I often get hit during that moment before regaining control.

Just line up all the enemies on front of you beforehand

Btw speaking of OP you can unlock a lariat with Max that literally sucks enemies in, it seems pretty broken on the higher difficulties

Also, heads up, it looks like they're releasing a physical edition in September with the DLC in it for anyone who's interested.

I have the downloadable version PS4 but I don't trust Nintendo to preserve their downloadable games so I might pick up the physical switch version. This is one of those games I can see myself coming back to every once in a while

Have they added a roguelite mode with this update? See some passing mentions on Twitter it couldn’t find out what it referred to.

It's a survival mode with random upgrades. You warp into a new room after defeating each wave of enemies.

You unlock new moves which are permanent. I guess that's the roguelite element of it, not that the moves are always better.

Sure is fun to mix and match to be able to do different combos though

It's roguelite because on death you have to start a new run, each round is procedurally generated in the enemies you face, and you get random upgrades at the end of each round.

Calling it a survival mode (as the game does) is really the better description though, you aren't fighting through procgen stages like you might imagine a full-on roguelite beat 'em up to be, just a handful of single-screen arenas.

I can't play the normal modes now  having your character become some elemental flying god makes the game so fun

I scraped to level 18 last night.

I've managed level 26 with Estel (using her heavy attack quite a lot) and Cherry by spamming her new Blitz attack with poison added to it.

Can't say I agree.

When you get to higher levels it's an absolute nightmare to try and see what's going on.

They clearly didn't design the elemental effects with clarity in mind.

I prefer the normal levels because you can do some cool combos and gooseberry fool by learning them. Survival basically just forces you to spam specials and blitz attacks because it gets so chaotic

I think my brain would melt if I had to do the same 3 hit combo for more than 5 minutes

I can't use any of the SOR1 characters, they're so boring

Just got to survival stage 21 as Axel. Some of his new moves are really great. He gets up quickly from the rolling attack and his forward special gives him really good range, similar to Adam's long range kick.

I got a 15% speed boost on that run and it really made Axel come alive.

I'm still struggling to get past the mid 20 levels.

At the moment my strategy is the get perks where you get health for damaging enemies and toxic for the blitz attack and then just spam it to hell.

It's normally environment things that do for me. I hate the stages with the swinging balls and the lava spurts.

Unlocked all alternative moves for every character now, still only got to level 29 though.

That was with SOR3 Skate. Spammed his blitz attack, loaded with as many elements as possible and also the perk where you get health recovery for damage dealt.

I think there are too many gimmicky environmental levels.

I found using the SOR2 characters painful! Very slow so not really suited for survival.
