That was both excellent and somewhat terrifying.

How is this show so good! It never misses. Incredible.

I don't even know where to start with this episode.

If Rupert Murdoch dies just before the next US election, it's probably going to look exactly like this behind the scenes at Fox.

Possibly the best episode of the season for me.

Also I’ve been predicting since about episode 4 that the show was going to end with a nuke, having that dropped several times this episode I’m doubling down on that prediction

The last scene will be Kendall's daughter being dragged away to a concentration camp.

I'm expecting everyone to get destroyed.

Logan's former security guy tells Mattson about Kendall killing a waiter.
Geri leaks all Roman's dick pics and sues the company.
Shiv loses any reputation she has by doing PR fir a creepy stalker who sends blood to women.
Tom is investigated for inciting Mencken's followers/the election call.

Shiv made a mistake in not making Greg an offer in my opinion, I know Kendall's suspicions were up anyway so it might not have mattered but it was silly not to imo

Best episode of the entire show for me. Could be shown on its own merit to highlight what is wrong with American media. Perfect television.

I feel like we're building to Greg firing Tom in the finale. Tom is already on thin ice and seeing his face on the rival channels' coverage for calling too early will only make him more disposable. Plus, Greg has already told us that he is basically considered one of the best at breaking that kind of news to people for ATN. The signs are there.

I also think that structurally, it makes sense for only Kendall to come out on top at the end, albeit having become the same kind of bastard as Logan. Twice he tried to take on Logan and lost (albeit, showing that he's a 'killer' in his Dad's eyes). He was also too emotional, too sincere about what he loved (Vaulter) and he's slowly stripped that away. He betrayed Shiv to Roman (leaving her out of their plans to ruin the Mattsson deal) and has betrayed Roman to Frank ("one crown"). He's even sacrificing his daughter's safety by ensuring that Mencken has unstoppable momentum to be
President. Lastly, he's thinking like Logan (buying GoJo) rather than thinking how to get Logan's attention (buying Pierce).

Finale speculation (possible mild S9 spoilers)

Matsson is definitely going to strawberry float over Shiv, he was very carefully wording his "I can make a US CEO work" promise.

I predict cousin Greg.

Solid Episode 9 but very much the penultimate episode.

Still don't get how there's only one episode left mind you. Or how it's going to end with proper finality.

Either it'll be left slightly open (for a movie/limited series) later on, do a 6 Feet Under style future montage, or be a hugely disappointing waste of time. :toot:

4x09- Here comes Chekhov's security chief.

It's not just me right, this is definitely the best season of the show they've done?

Yep. Shiv being a democrat doesn't endear her to Mencken and Matsson likes Greg, he'd be a complete puppet. Mencken thinks Roman is weak after the collapse during the eulogy, Kendall needs to be his own boss.

It's not just you.

I only started watching the series just before S4 started. I enjoyed S1-3, but couldn't work out why it was being lauded as one of the best shows ever. But S4 has been up there.
