I wonder how many "seasons" they'll do before they abandon it. Possible idea for a forum competition?

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I'm keeping an open mind at the moment. We haven't seen much of the game and, from the official gameplay clips that have been shared, I thought the action looked fun enough, with some nice verticality in the environments.

There is tons of speculation about the battle pass and other live elements but, as far as I know, it is just speculation rather than known issues. Obvs I don't want a "pay £25 for this tshirt" type thing but I don't think we've seen anything like that yet.

Live service games have a bad rep so I understand the reasons some folk are keen to put this game down. But... it is Rocksteady, and they've made decent games in the past. I won't be buying this as I'm not spending much on games right now, but I'd like to try it.

It's important to keep an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out.

Arkham knight was their last game and i felt it was worse than the previous games. This has been brewing for 8 years which is never a good sign.

Asylum > Knight > City for me, but I understand why people would flip City and Knight round.

Asylum is first though, that is a fact.

I agree asylum is best. I felt the story of knight wasn’t as interesting and the Batmobile sections were so overused it soured my memory of the game. Who thought fighting drone tanks endlessly would be fun?

How does 2024 Joker look worse than 2011

If this bombs critically and commercially I would worry about Rocksteady’s future just going by the current climate in the games industry.

Sad that I was right about The Joker DLC.

I fully suspect they'll go full Marvel Avengers for the next few DLC characters and just make variants of current characters move sets and animations.

I'll probably watch the cut scenes on YouTube as I'm sure they'll be great. But actual gameplay looks atrocious, shoot the purple glowing circle on each bad guy and repeat until boredom. Hopefully to unlock a new baseball bat skin for Harley.

Predicted timeline....

Poor reviews

Massive drop in live players within 2 weeks

Price reduced by 30% online and in-store within 1 month.

Developers announce we are listening and we are sorry for the aggressive store front etc.

Next DLC character is terrible

Road map re written / reduced

WB no longer supporting future DLC.

Cuts to the studio staff.

Added to PlayStation Plus.

Wish my image sig would work

That Joker design is just embarrassing. :|

This will literally be what happens. And eventually they'll just shut the servers off.

I do agree with some of those listed "possible outcomes" ! Even so, it does - to me - feel like this is a case of the game becoming the newest "pile on" for internet laughs.

We barely know anything about it* and yet you'd think this was the worst game ever. I get why this is - online live service games just aren't liked by quite a few folk even though some are hugely popular in the wider market - but I'm still thinking:

> It's made by Rocksteady
> The environments and the character cast looks neat
> I like the idea of having both solo play and teaming up together

Until we see the released game it's hard to make a call, imho. Even then, as a live service game it'll just be the starting point... unless things go badly!

* Yes, I know that some folk have played the beta :-).

Suicide Squad Insider Episode 3

The character customisation looks to be really good and it seems that the gameplay is tailored to meet one, two, three and four player setups.

Also, outlets have not received review codes yet, not a good sign.
