What is Games Done Quick?

Games Done Quick is a bi-annual charity gaming marathon. Volunteers play games at incredible speed ("Speedrunning") for entertainment. The event is streamed live online, non-stop, and all donations go directly to Doctors Without Borders (MSF for us Europeans). This is the summer event, with a winter event starting in January.

And miss the deluge of Sonic games kicking off with Jawa's game of the generation, Sonic Boom?

Probably for the best, init.

Curious how bad Sonic Boom is :shifty:

I'd say that you're safe from about 11:30. DKC 1 and 3 before bed and an early morning of Resi 4 is a great start to the week :toot:

$25k already, that's pretty insane. How much do you think they'll have raised by the end?

Sonic Boom is much more interesting when you're just watching someone break it.

I imagine it's pretty difficult to watch someone play Sonic Boom without breaking it...

True.

The stuff at the end was interesting, I love seeing the artefacts that devs simply don't bother taking out of the game.

Resi 3 about to begin. I love Resident Evil game speed runs, though I wish it was 2 not 3.

Anyone else up?

I'm also surprised that 3 was picked. I would have thought that 1 or 2 would have been better choices.

It was actually a really great run and the guy doing it was highly entertaining. I followed his twitch channel immediately afterwards.

That Bamboo guy in the vid above had his Twitch channel banned not long after that run. What a nut case

Loving the Super Metroid music being played between SMB and Octodad.

That game has a phenomenal soundtrack. So subtle but so effective. :datass:

That Japanese Tetris player was actually on world record pace before he died. Poor guy.

3 hours of Zelda Twilight Princess now. :dread: At least I'll get to sleep quick tonight.

Tomorrow is Castlevania night, though. :datass: Including a 4-way race of Symphony of the Night.
