Wish they'd speed up uploading the runs to YouTube.

You could watch the vods on Twitch itself? I think it'd be more awkward though. I'd imaging not every game is it's own vod and instead a few or more are one long video.

I've only caught a few brief moments of this so far, whilst I always enjoy watching speed runs I do find it annoying that most (or at least most of the ones that I seem to catch) are generally about exploiting glitches to achieve times.

That's fun no doubt and it's cool seeing how people can break games, but I just wish more runs were simply about how people can play the game normally - within the bounds of what was intended to be possible rather than exploits and the like. Admittedly that would mean that loads of games and runs would be much slower which obviously makes them less suitable to this kind of event, but it would be cool to see nonetheless.

I'm the opposite, I love seeing people break games and seeing what tricks and exploits exist. I particularly enjoy anything involving arbitrary code execution.

Yeah I do love all of that as well, it's fascinating seeing the ways a game can be broken and the often bizarre circumstances in which things like this get discovered, but it often feels like there is an overlooked section for just focusing on people who are strawberry floating good at playing the games "normally"

It's like calling up Norris McWhirter to tell him you've got a new marathon record he needs to put in his book only for the officiators to turn up and watch you jump in a taxi for 26 miles - "ROFLMAO u never said I couldn't cheat!!!"

But that's why different speedrun categories exist.

I don't mind runs that have the occasional glitch but the ones that are nothing but glitches aren't particularly interesting beyond the initial curiosity of seeing something being utterly broken. It's one of the reasons I've never been particularly interested in Metroid Prime runs. Most of them are nothing but getting out of bounds and abusing geometry.

I far prefer runs which focus more on extensive routing and skillful execution.

Absolutely, and that was my point - those categories seem to get less attention that the glitch focused ones which I find a shame. Like I say there are obvious reasons why - AGDQ can fit in way more runs if they are shorter which the exploit based ones will be, but I still think it would be nice to see some more variety.

Yeah that's pretty much my view. :D

I don’t really mind either. The biggest factor for me is how entertaining the runner is. I get that it’s a lot to ask to be engaging while doing incredibly complicated stuff but my god some of them are boring.

That.
Or, if the runner is dull/annoying/silent, if the couch crew is entertaining enough then it's all good.

The new OOT glitch is strawberry floating bananas. How on earth do they figure out all this messing around with in game memory.

Spider-Man DLC run has been enjoyable enough, but they're playing it on "Friendly Neighbourhood" difficulty with an incentive for playing on the "Ultimate" difficulty which they've not quite met yet and it's almost over.

They've spent the whole run going on about how cool the strategies for Ultimate are and frankly it's kinda ruined it a little.

There’s so much crazy stuff in the OOT run. Seeing the game put up with all the crazy gooseberry fool they do to it, it’s like it’s alive and fighting back

Gonna have to watch that later I think. Heard it's pretty insane.

EDF5 just now and it's stupid how OP you can get in those games once you get the later difficulty weapons.

It's simultaneously hilarious and annoying at the same time.

It was getting a bit boring watching him make that walk around the dark world multiple times.

Couch has been legitimately funny at times. Great run so far.

No way he's managing 3:30 though.

10 minutes over is impressive considered just how much they were screwing with him in the first half of the run especially.
