Watched the Sigil and Amid Evil runs last night (Amid Evil is a fantastic Hexen style shooter by the way so check it out) and both were great fun.

Amid Evil especially had some insane Out of Bounds skips, which normally I don't particularly enjoy too much, but some of the devs were on discord talking with them which was cool. No particularly interesting insights, but it was fun hearing them swear a lot and being asked to tone it down.

It does work for them, but there were a few donation incentives that were a bit too high in the middle of the week from what I saw.

I'd go as far as to say that the donation incentive for "Ultimate" difficulty on the Spider-Man run essentially ruined the run. It wasn't met at the start of the run so they kept going on about how much cooler it was, with all these amazing strats and cool movements. They kept saying "If we were on ultimate I could do this...." and never stopped talking about the incentive, which was never going to get met during the run. It got really distracting and just made the whole run feel a bit hollow and dull as a result.

If it's that much more intersting then they should have had it as the default for the run and just went with the suit incentive or something else.

I missed that one, and agree that this does sound a tad annoying. But in the grand scheme of things it seems mostly to have worked, and given the amount raised the ends generally justified the means...

Yeah there's some fine tuning to do no doubt but I think the overall premise was sound.

I've got the Sigil run on my list of ones to watch but hadn't heard of Amid Evil so will probably chuck that in the mix as well!

Sigil was ok, but at the end of the day it's Doom, so nothing you won't be familiar with.

Amid Evil is genuinely good, though the run doesn't really give you a great taste of how the game plays. Like I said it's an Any% Out of Bounds run, so don't expect to see a proper game. :lol:

If you like old school shooters then I would recommend giving the game a go. It's very Hexen/Quake in how it plays.

Yeah I'm not complaining about them raising a shitload of money, it just left a sour taste in my mouth for that run. If they hadn't been constantly going on about it, then it wouldn't have been so bad, but it seemed like every other sentence was saying how the run could be much better.

Doom Eternal just now and it's 90% Out of Bounds and clips to make you go shoot through the air.

One of the streamers is doing "Pump It Up" which is essentially a stupid fast DDR style game, on a massive arcade system in his garage/basement.

Crazy fast and impressive.

they just had the WORST run ive ever seen at a GDQ. it was a game called Rocko's Quest - the runner sounded like he was on the ISS (Houston, over), the game was lagging and his internet was slow, there was a co-commentator who sounded like he was outside with wind noises, a guy who kept hacking up and sounded like he was about to die, and another guy who told stories about Civilisation and putting his dog down, multiple F-bombs and other swearing, the host asked if he could read one donation and someone just said "no" and the host didn't say anything again :lol:

Bloody hell. I've been watching over the week and seen some brilliant runs(Alien: Isolation was a highlight) but that sounds appalling.
