Shame nothing about the collection changes for doing that. Even just a title screen change would have been nice.

That sounds like you're expecting Nintendo to have put some effort into the collection :capnscotty:

Can I get 100 coins in BOB right off the bat?

You can, in fact I'd say it's more fun to do it early (context) as its tougher to achieve. Here's a hint for some hidden extra coins to help.

Got this for Christmas and started it as my Christmas Day game.

Decided to start with SM64 as jumping into Sunshine or Galaxy first will make SM64 feel even more dated than it already is.

This strawberry floating camera.

From something I watched online they did. They had to rebuild Galaxy for the switch. Not sure what I watched it on or I'd link it here.

Galaxy is such an awesome game, I had fun revisiting it.

Currently on 23 stars on SM64, really struggling with timing my wall kicks right to get a star on the snow level :fp:

My nephew was made up when he opened his copy from us this morning. He wasn't even born when Galaxy was released, so I'm devastated that I can't be there to watch him play them all for the first time. :(

Yeah it's just joyous, isn't it. There's a tactile pleasure to controlling Mario that other platformers never match. For me this is heightened in Galaxy due to the Star bit collecting. It's satisfying just waggling your cursor round and the visual and audio feedback for collecting them.

For me, that's why I'm playing it with separate joycons and waggle for the spin jump. Partially because of muscle memory and nostalgia for the first ever Wii playthrough I did during Christmas 2007, but also because it just feels more pleasant that way. Playing it with a controller feels wrong, and doing the motion controls that way isn't as good - with separate joycons you can be moving with your left hand and waggling with your right. I still prefer waggle for the spin jump as well, though I might be in the minority there. I never has a problem with it.

Yeah, I never got the criticism of the star bits in Galaxy. It is such a joy. The waggle for spin jump was unnecessary perhaps but the star bit collecting fits really well.

Star bits are part of the charm. Waggle never bothered me, but I didn't miss it when using the pro controller, although a few times the old muscle memory kicked in and I did a shake every now and then.

I wish you could hold R for the cursor to appear, and then when you release it goes again, because I found myself putting the cursor right over Mario a lot of the time.

Left that wall jump one behind, just couldn’t get the timing right :fp:

Done the first Bowser level, completely forgotten you only need to get one hit in on him. I’ve now gone to the haunted level (which really does miss the fantastic music from later games) to grab a few stars before moving into the basement. Currently on 25 stars and enjoying myself for the most part, except when the camera gets stuck which happens more than I remember! We take fully controllable cameras really for granted these days don’t we

What is actually the second level? I bumbled into CCM late last night but it said that was the fourth level.

I always thought Whomp Fortress was the second world (and still go to it after the first world) but once you’ve got a handful of stars you can pretty much pick and choose on the starting level.

Bowser in the Dark World... got there in the end but my word does Mario do a LOT of annoying things when you don't tell him to.

Currently in Hazy Maze Cave, now got all 3 extra caps unlocked :toot:

Also sat on 34 stars, I’m enjoying playing SM64 again (been a lot of years since I last did so but it’s definitely aged a fair bit, Mario has a habit of taking another step when landing from a jump which I can’t recall and has led to me falling to my deaths a few times ) so not sure if I’ll even go for every star like I will most likely do in Galaxy (Sunshine can do one already).

I got this yesterday from my other half. I played the first couple of stars of 64 for Christmas nostalgia, but I did play it quite recently on the Wii U, so switched to Galaxy after and I think I'll focus on this first. Only played handheld so far, but I'm so impressed by how great it looks. Big fan of the spin being on a button, and getting starbits with the touch screen seems easy enough. Very much enjoying this so far.

Onto the second Bowser level now, 46 stars, I’m right in thinking it’s only 70 stars needed to unlock the third/final Bowser level aren’t I? Obviously I’ll be getting as many as I can (although the wall kick ones I’m just leaving, my patience isn’t what is used to be obviously ) as I’ve not even unlocked any of the final worlds yet, or done any bar the required one on the second round of Dire Dire Docks so I’ll be going back to that as well.

Galaxy feels garbage to control compared to 64, Sunshine and Odyssey

Trying Super Mario Sunshine again, is it me or does Mario take extra steps when you are making a jump? Trying to do sections where you need to jump from small platforms to another are a right ball ache as I land on the platform but then he seems to take an extra step and then fall off
