I actually like the pointing in Galaxy Switch as a kind of handheld flourish, or accent, that doesn't really bother the core controls - especially as spin is now on a button.

And actually I liked its inclusion in 3d-World too, when you just fancy a quick point at a ? to hit it or a baddie to hold it. I even found it odd that people say the Wii U platform block pressing and stuff is better as when I played handheld the hand-position change to jab the screen felt crap compared to the seamlessness of pointing-as-you-play.

Then again in general I find arms apart joy-cons is my favorite, most relaxed control scheme.

Yeah joy-cons are very relaxing to use, sometimes you get so relaxed you just drift off.

I think I want to pick this up. I remember reading somewhere in this thread about the FLUDD controls not being the same as on the GC due to lack of a pressure censor. Is there a way around this, reading up it seems you can get a GC controller adapter. Does this fix it?

To be honest, ShopTo are still selling it

Ecno, buy it ASAP if you want it, it was a limited run (although they sold millions of copies, so getting a used second copy wouldn’t be hard) that ended on March 31st.

I knew it was limited stock but Nintendo were still letting me add it to my cart whilst I was ordering my Switch

Lol yeah I'm sure it's still being sold. To answer your question though, yes, a gamecube adapter and controller will work for traditional FLUDD controls. Idk how available adapters are these days, but just remember Wii U gamecube controller adapters will work too if you happen to find one cheaper

Wait what, a gamecube adaptor gives analogue shoulder buttons??

Apparently so. Haven't tested it myself, but GameXplain said it was possible in 3D All-Stars

I believe it was a post-release update that re-enabled the original Gamecube controls.

Re-started Mario Galaxy last night after Drum mentioned playing Galaxy over xmas, playing handheld on the Switch OLED and it really makes the colours pop!

Still find the touch screen parts a bit cumbersome, especially when you are in those levels where you need to use the blue stars but other than that it's still a great game. Look forward to playing more over the coming weeks.

This is correct. You can also use the N64 Controller for 64 too

Bumping this to say that I've jumped back into this to finally finish Mario 64. I started on around 50ish stars and I'm now up to 105.

I just spent far, far too long trying to get the final flying level star, I kept sliding off the platforms and sometimes I'd triple jump and my cap would thrust me into the floor, killing my fly and then knocking me off the platforms. Been really struggling with the camera at certain points and tick tock clock took me an embarassing long time to get on top of the thwomp and get the coin star. I kept falling off over and over again

120 stars get. Started Sunshine now, damn it feels so weird playing it straight after 64. It's nothing like I remember either lol

I keep thinking about replaying Sunshine, but I worry that it will be rubbish now like everyone else claims. At the time (release) I loved it, but i'm not sure if that was because there was a drought of games for the GC at the time.

Sunshine is still great. It has its gooseberry fool parts, but is still the last 3d Mario in the 64 style. The only truly jarring thing going from 64 to sunshine is just how fast Mario moves.

That's good to know. Now I need to keep my eyes out for a reasonably priced new copy of the collection (or just play my ripped GC copy on the Wii U using Nintendont).

Sunshine is the weakest of the 3 for myself at least, love the setting but it’s how Mario moves that annoys me with that nervy step when he lands from a jump, it makes the few platforming levels overly tense
