Bianco Hills is the rare level where all Blue Coins can be found in Episode 8. Some are initially Episode specific, but you can find them all in 8. Shame the other levels don't follow this patter.

I've done all episodes in Bianco Hills included 100 coins. I know there are blue coins, do I have to collect 30 of them in one episode or are they hiding separately in each episode?

Cheers.

Some are episode specific. It's not a fun experience but using a checklist can help.

I was reminded of one of the other things that pissed me off about the blue coin hunt back in the day - terrible, unreliable collision detection for spraying water. There are so many locations that I know give me a blue coin but dousing them in water gets me nothing because the game is either not registering it or thinks I haven't hit the exact spot that they are interested in. :fp: Just makes an already tedious task even more strawberry floating gooseberry fool.

On a similar note, when going for Bianco Hills 100 coins, several times I'd kill something and the coins would spawn and promptly go inside a wall :fp: Easily lost 6 coins this way. Also, why do they disappear some quickly? Splitting those flower things in to a wall and 3 coins appear, giving you about 3 seconds to get them before they go, that's if they've not gone inside a wall.

Yeah I had this kind of thing a lot. The birds on the beach that chuck you in the air would often spawn their coin inside of them which made it impossible to collect, or the Bloopers on the scaffolding in Rico Harbour which would promptly chuck their coin off the edge so you would have to jump into the water to try and collect it and then climb all the way back up again! :x

It's definitely a very frustrating game in some ways

I'll stick to the shines then

Will still try to get blue coins whenever I see them but I won't bust my balls trying to find every last one.

You trade in 10 coins for a shine. 240 coins in total so 24 shines.

Tried Galaxy in handheld mode, I didn't care for it. Touching the screen to pick up the fragments means letting go of the camera and using the blue stars to float is temperamental and you sometimes end up firing random star fragments

Remember that some appear only in certain stars so in some areas you may have to go in all 8 of the star levels (each area has 11 Stars including 100 coins and 2 hidden stars)

30 blue's per area apart from the route to the final boss which has 20. There is a screen that tells you how many you have but not which level.

Corona mountain has 10. Delfino has 20. I've spent a lot of today searching for blue coins and have found 1 so far. Just 30 left across all the levels except delfino and corona, but I already feel like I've thoroughly search through a lot of levels, in ever episode. So I'm pretty gutted this is proving so difficult.

Sorry I meant 10 not 20. They are all in once place and easy to see

Thank you guys, that's really helpful.

Most likely scenario is I'll play Sunshine until "the end" but I won't push myself to 100% if I've stopped having fun. Will save my energy to 100% Galaxy instead, seeing as it's the best one

100% Sunshine is definitely not fun.

Thanks! I was really hoping to do it without a guide, but feel like I've thoroughly checked through every episode. I wonder how many of these I'll look at and go "oh for real? :dread: "

The thing that broke it for me is that you can check something by spraying it, get no blue coin so you move on, only to find out later that it should have given you a coin but the detection on something being sprayed is sometimes so bad that it just doesn't work.

There are multiple places where I have checked a list and it confirms I should be getting a coin but it has taken me an absolute age to get the game to register the interaction and give me the bloody thing! :x

Most of the obtuse ones seem to require spraying general elements of the environment - i.e. spray tree, spray platform, spray torch etc.

Who the strawberry float decided that Sunshine needed those cloud things to constantly blow you off platforms on vertical levels? Jesus...

The secret stars are hard in Sunshine, huh? Just need one more star in Bianco Hills. Missing 9 blue coins it seems but they can please themselves.

Still 80 strawberry floating days until I can play this.

I'll be talking to myself in this thread by then.

Amazingly I breezed the two in Bianco Hills. I know some will be really tough later on though.

Up to 32 shines and 89 blue coins now. I've given up trying to keep that checklist going as I found them as looking through a lost to tick was spoiling ones I'd not thought of yet. I'll worry about it at the end game.

This is bullshit for anyone playing on a pro controller. And why is the button to reposition the star icon the same button to fire fragments?

Yeah the movement is genuinely awful at times in Galaxy, it might be rose tinted goggles but I don't remember it being this problematic back on the Wii
