All I can think is from tomorrow they will be for sale individually or something. Its such an odd decision commercially.

It really makes no sense. Maybe another version will come along that includes the missing galaxy 2.

The entire thing is stupid, but it’s a stupid money-making ploy and from news of recent raised sales it clearly worked.

I'm not convinced on this. It front loads sales to the first month or two but I can't see how they sell more in 6 months then they would in it being on the shelves until the Switch's final day.

It would have done huge numbers regardless so I don't think it can be said to have worked in that way based just on that.

Also, it’s not even like it was an overly special collection to warrant the limited run thing. Had this been released in a fancy box with an art book, copy of the soundtracks etc.... then I would understand, the box itself doesn’t even mention limited edition anywhere on it

My assumption is that they wanted the highest numbers they could for this financial year, which ends for most companies I know of in March. Short-term number-fluffing.

Their financial year does run to the end of March, but they have had an astronomical year in terms of software sales, driven by pandemic so they really don't need to fluff it with an extra million or two Mario sales. Given the current release schedule for the upcoming year, they should be pushing software sales the other direction if anything....

Maybe it’s because tomorrow they will announce the Nintendo Switch Pro and that Super Mario 3D Allstars 4K edition will launch with it.

Limited edition anniversary products are common in Japan apparently.

It also really could just be Nintendo, Nintendoing. Remember when they came up with the NES and SNES mini and decided to only make about 100 of each....

We all know it’ll be Paper Mario All Stars, including the likes of Paper Mario 64, Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door and last but not least, Super Paper Mario :toot:

I’d buy the hell out of this, probably even 2 copies just so they know how much better the older Paper Mario games are :lol

I love how you think that's what a Paper Mario All Stars would look like.

It would blatantly be Super Paper Mario, Sticker Star and Colour Splash.

It really is utterly absurd they're removing the game from sale, but Sony used to do this with the PlayStation 1. Not only were you screwed in some cases if you missed the initial print run and the game didn't go Platinum, Sony would intentionally take products off the shelves, A) to make way for full-price new ones and B) to limit discounting. Then in 2002 or thereabouts they outright banned publishers from re-releasing their games at 'super-budget' prices (£9.99 and under) because they thought it devalued and hurt the market. They didn't want games like Tomb Raider and Resident Evil being sold at a fiver or whatever like they were on PC under the Sold-Out banner.

Well my physical copy has been finished for ages but I'll hang onto it for a couple of months so I can fleece some poor sod on eBay that missed it's release'window'.

I got the digital version specifically so I wouldn't be tempted to sell it on when I fancy a pizza 3 days before payday.
