Green stars and stamps make sense as it's rewarding exploration, but it seems like a lot of busy work and grinding for what essentially just requires me to make it to the end of a level with a cat power up in my back pocket to climb the flag pole. I'm thinking I made the same realisation on Wii U and never actually tackled the champions road there either.

Its been a little since I played, but I didn't mind having to golden shower, green star, stamp every level. The only thing that annoyed a little was to truly 100% you had to do this with all four characters. I 100%ed with Mario and got the stamp, but from memory I think there was 4 stamps missing because I didn't bother 100%ing with the other characters.

Like is a strong word. I think I only completed it in multiplayer with my brother but that's easier as there's more of you to make progress.

I think you are being a little modest there :D Doing it with another player seems even harder!

Especially with the horrific friendly fire :x So many jumps ruined by someone else jumping off your head and missing the next platform

What are you doing with the fire power on champions road :capnscotty: The only power ups you should bring are Tanooki Leaf and the Cat Bell ;)

You're going to have to do better than that to get in to the nocontext thread :capnscotty:

Yeah but if one of you falls off, the others can keep going. You just need to be organised and take it turns to go to avoid the friendly fire.

On to the last world before Champions Road now. I have actually gone back and collected nearly all the stamps, stars and flagpoles along the way as well, so it looks like I will end up spending half an hour on the very final part before swearing loudly, giving up and putting the game down with an overall soured opinion of it.

Looking forward to that.

I'd been interested in your thoughts on the other World Crown level - the big mystery house one too when you get there :D

Well given this a go this week. It's utterly charming :D

I thought it would be too easy early on but then by world 4 I'd hit a game over. In a Mario game.

How many worlds are there?

Super Mario Wonder wasn't scratching my itch so went back to this to try Champion's Road.

It's hard! Fun hard. Really like Mario's movement in this (the mid-air any direction dive, the ground pound spring into high jump), though the restricted camera does make judging some jumps and depth a bit off at times.

Anyway fun to stick a podcast on the headphones and replay (again and again) trying to finish. That zone vibe 8-)

EDIT: I suppose I could just use Tanooki/Cat suits, but now I'm 2/3rds through it without I'm thinking of finishing it 'straight' too!
