Looks like Jazzem and I finished it in 2014:

Bad enough with 2 players, can't imagine doing it in single player :dread:

Does that count?! :shifty:

I didn't make it to champions road on the Wii U. This morning I got to the last level I finished on the Wii U, and I can't tell you the difference it makes to my stress levels having the stars and stamps stay collected if you die. I know that was a major factor in me giving up at this point last time.

I've been making my way through this pretty slowly, only jumping in to complete a few levels when I get a chance (another win for the Switch form factor where I can play it where and when I get a chance! :toot: ) so I'm still only on World 3 now. Really enjoying it though - particularly collecting the stars and stamps adds a nice level of exploration to things.

Also really enjoying the few fleeting visits from 2D Luigi that I've spotted as well! Is he in every level somewhere?

Most of them I think.

I used to think I was sick at games as a kid but I'm finding this one a bit easier than I remember, perhaps it's the familiarity. I definitely found SM64 more of a challenge but then again that was my first play through.

Or, perhaps more likely, maybe I wasn't actually all that as a kid. :slol:

I found Sunshine easier this time around too, remembering it being pretty tough as a kid. I think Sunshine controls might just have a few more finnicky nuances that take a bit more time to adjust to than the more free and intuitive controls of 64.

I've returned to this lately and I'm currently in World 7.

It's great and I've managed to collect every stamps, three green stars and golden flags as well.

Hopefully I'll finish it soon so I can start Bowser's Fury.

Fashionably late to the party, I finally started this yesterday (The 3D World portion). I have not played it since Wii U and remember loving it there, and that feeling returned almost instantly when starting this version.

Think I am up to the end of world 3. Not sure I have made any impact on the "post game" last time, but am hoping that the easing of stamp and star collection will make a difference there (though I cant actually remember the requirements).

Stamps are fun - I like taking photos where it looks like people are breaking wind on each other.

It's great that I can apply that hobby to this game also.

I wait all this time so no one steals my thunder only for this to happen.

Are you enjoying it? Did you play it on Wii U? And if so, have the differences been noticeable to you?

Although too much time has passed to given any genuine side by side comparisons, I'm sure I have zipped off the edge of the world more in this one already than I ever did in the original. I might have to not keep my thumb glued to the dash button this time.

Glad you are both enjoying it. Do keeping plugging away because Champions Road (i.e. the final level) is awesome. Have you had a chance to look at Bowsers Fury yet or have you been focussing on the main game?

Bowsers Fury is so good. BF is the first Mario game that's was one open world sandbox where you didn't need to go through a world map to get to another area - you just parkoured or rode there seamlessly. They've nailed applying 3D Worlds fun mechanics into an ambitious open world Odyssey style setting - the world is big enough that exploration and parkuring across the interconnected islands is fun but not too big that theres dead space so traversing feels like a chore. I'm playing Wind Waker at the moment and having to walk or swim over to the boat when leaving an island makes me appreciate how in BF Plessie is always just there waiting at any spot whenever you need him . Dark bowser is a cool concept too and well applied.

I have not looked at Bowsers Fury yet. Was planning to make that an Xmas game.

I am fully intending to give Champions Road a go (I don't remember trying it all on Wii U, but I know I won't be good enough to crack it).

Playing at Christmas is a great shout - Playing 3D World on Christmas day was lovely

You totally can do Champions Road :capnscotty: I remember when I actually did it I was on a busy train and loudly screamed

I was on a semi packed silent train carriage. Some nice American tourists came on and were talking loudly - I could see they were getting some looks and they seemed unaware it was a silent carriage and I said in a very polite way 'hi guys, I personally don't care but just so you know this is silent carriage' (genuinely didn't want to be a dick, which is exactly what a dick would say, I don't care about noise and I wasn't confrontation- but they were unaware and I would want to be told if it was me and they thanked me. If they chose to not quiet down I wouldn't have said anything again). I put my headphones on and about 1 minute after this exchange I accidentally screamed a loud 'YEEEESSSSSSS' as a pure expulsion of joy for beating Chapions Road after like the 30th attempt

On to the post bowser stuff now. Some is familiar, much is not.

Not sure how I am feeling about having to get the golden flagpole for every level to unlock the champions road though. Green stars and stamps make sense as it's rewarding exploration, but it seems like a lot of busy work and grinding for what essentially just requires me to make it to the end of a level with a cat power up in my back pocket to climb the flag pole. I'm thinking I made the same realisation on Wii U and never actually tackled the champions road there either.

Maybe it's one to just make a small bit of progress towards every couple of days.

Difficult.

Like is a strong word. I think I only completed it in multiplayer with my brother but that's easier as there's more of you to make progress.
