And remember that track that intersected itself? That was a strawberry floating stupid idea if there ever was one. Racing along, then hitting a dirty great tunnel burrowing into the middle of the road. Caused bottlenecks sometimes too....

And HSH has allowed himself to be deluded by superior graphics. He probably thinks Yoshi's Story is better than Mario 3, too...

Yoshis Island is better than Mario 3.

If you think that graphics have no effect on how good a game is, especially a game like F Zero, then you don't know what you are talking about.

Yoshi's Island is indeed better than Mario 3 - despite its comparative linearity.

However, GX's superior graphics don't even come close to making up for the shoddy dynamics. Yeah, X looks like a Technicolor yawn, but in the way the crafts handle, they've hit the nail right on the head. Perfection. Attention to nuance of control is one of Nintendo's hallmarks and I honestly think Sega completely missed the point there. Videogame history has shown that, almost universally, Sega's best games have always been second rate compared to Nintendo's best.

I've already made a cogent argument regarding my stance and all you can do is go "hurr durr graphics derp"...

You are the one that brought up the graphics, don't even try to foist that one on me.

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with the 'dynamics' of GX, the handling is spot on. It might well be slightly different to X, but its a similar argument to the people who have problems with the recent Dirt handling, eventually you just get used to it and realise its not better or worse, just different. Holding on to what you percieve as superior handling in X isn't doing you any favours.

As for Sega in general, they've always out done Nintendo in two specific genres, Fighting games and Racing games. In these genres Nintendo is second best to Sega over and over again.

I only brought up graphics because that seems to me to be the only edge GX has on X - to prefer the former, one must be allowing graphics to cloud their judgement as far as I can see.

And I think X's handling is superior - especially when in the air, the aerodynamics just feel more intuitive. What's intuitive about a game making it look like you're going to make a jump, then making you suddenly plummet out of the sky and miss?

And on the road there was a clearly defined 'bite' point where you knew an extra nudge of the stick would send you out of control, whereas if you stayed within a certain limit (depending on your craft) you knew you'd hold the road - you felt it. That's intuition. That's what GX lacked as far as I could tell. Either way, I couldn't be arsed to realign my 'mental map' of the controls just because Sega missed one of the fundamental points to the game's dynamic.

And even if you do take the "equally good but different" angle, Sega should have honoured the precedent set by X - because it worked very well.

I was skeptical when I heard Sega were making it - and my worst fears were confirmed. After about a week, I was sick of the game. Gutted.

Sega: you are a poor man's Nintendo - you are good for only one thing: arcade action (indeed that's where your heritage lies). Anything with any modicum of depth, leave to other game manufacturers.

GX was amazing and an improvement over X. Ask anyone who played Kiran's GR Leagues about how good the handling was and they'll say GX's was great.

And if you couldn't find a stock vehicle that had the handling characteristics you liked, you could always build your own.

Miyamoto added that the company has no plans to offer StreetPass functionality with the game

[/quote]

Seems ridiculous for a flagship title not to include one of the coolest and most unique features of the system.

As long as Sega aren't making it, then it should be all good.

Maybe they don't want to shove it in every game just for the sake of it being there? They probably couldn't come up with an idea that actually makes it seem any good.

Perhaps but being one of the most inventive and imaginative designers in gaming, I find that a little hard to believe.

Anyway, it's not a huge deal if it doesn't make it in.

They don't have to shoehorn it into everything. They've made that mistake before with motion controls where they weren't necessarily needed. They felt tacked on and it cheapened both the games and the feature.

Am I supposed to know what that means? Is it a question? Are you just trolling the topic?
