Well I got past the first pipe... and the second screwed me five times in a row. There is like no room for error on that jump! :lol:

Uploaded two new courses myself. The first is for 2 player co-op, "Two Player Flagpole Dash" (CJM-5LJ-F6G). I imagine it won't get many plays considering that, but it was fun to design for - and it's over in a single screen and 30 seconds!

The second I made tonight is "Mushroom Heights" (FK9-8L1-D2H). It's a classic SMB level with optional pink coins as an extra challenge :toot:

Yeah, my tunnel vision when creating this level got the best of me lol sorry. Maybe I should've got my cousin to playtest parts for me more ">,>. The sliding detection is a bit more favourable than you'd think. Even tho there's one block, you can still get a bit of space before getting the jump.

I can jump off the block easily enough, but it's always too soon and I hit the ceiling. When I try waiting to jump from lower down, I miss the chance and fall off the bottom. I'm guessing you need to be right at the bottom so as not to hit the ceiling when you jump. Granted I'm not very good at Mario!

Also I played the Anakin meme level Yubel recommended and it was great :lol:

You can still bop the top, just try and spin after to get a bit more distance in your fall. I managed to get a pretty good consistent rhythm to it when testing.

Thought I'd make a quick lil' gif as a visual reference for anyone else getting stuck here.

I ported over two of my SMM1 courses to SMM2, hope you guys will give them a try!

Hunt for Eight Coins LFV-J49-P1H
How to fit in small passages 4QN-73S-B7G

If you've played them on SMM1, you'll know what they are, save some amends (mainly because you can't place stuff on start area anymore) but if not:

Hunt for Eight Coins is optional coin hunting as in you can finish the level with just 1 coin or try to find all of them, so there's exploration involved. Has Easter egg or two.

Other one is tutorial level - teaches players how to fit into small passages as Super Mario.

I'll eventually make brand new level, but I still want to port over few SMM1 levels.

Do we know why they made this change? It seems like a weird one to me and I've come up against it quite a bit. Maybe because of multiplayer and starting positions for all the players?

I spent last night and the night before making a snow resort themed level. It's as much a sandbox of activities as it is a platforming level (I even made a rough approximation of ice hockey for multiple players), but there are some easy red coins to collect that you need to reach the end. Should hopefully finish the final tweaks and upload it tonight!

I plan to when I come back home, just wanted to drop level codes here before I went out!

My guess is good as yours -- I do think it's for multiplayer reasons and/or to stop people trolling other players at start but eh latter is lame reason considering there's still million of ways to troll others.

It's harder now to guarantee a player will get a powerup or something. I had a level on the original where a buzzy beetle shell would immediately drop on Mario's head, now to make sure the player puts it on you have to design the level correctly at the start.

Yeah in original SMM1, the mushroom was above Mario in second level in that list on my post so it forces them to be Super Mario.

Had to change it a bit so it'll be tricky to avoid the mushroom for the level.

This one was really interesting! I think it works as a demonstration, at least it made the design requiring audio clues obvious.

I also played your others - "How to fit in small passages" was my favourite, not sure how someone got the WR in 30 seconds though! I also had to switch to using the directional buttons rather than the stick to get it done.

Glad you like the levels! I'm not sure what's the secret, that's one of my friends and he's pretty good at speedrunning in Mario games.

Most if not all of my levels have optional stuff, mainly wanted to let people explore the level be it in one run or multiple runs, haha.

I'll try your levels after I've done some of friends' ones.

Remade another SMM1 level, I've slapped on challenge that requires you to collect at least 70 coins in sea, encouraging you to explore. Though now I've typed that I might have to re-tweak the coins to bit lower than that, but I'll keep it up for time being.
