Even with all these new features MM2 lacks the tools required to accurately depict my dreams. ;)

Probably for the best really!

You can do it in Little Big Planet. And yeah, it doesn't work very well, but it can be fun if you're literally just messing around

I definitely won't be building a course in co-op mode... you can imagine the frustration and disgruntlement that would ensue :dread: . Actually playing the courses in co-op, though, sure!

Fake edit: But, thinking a bit more, I guess it could be cool if you were helping a kid build a course :-).

You're looking at it through the eye of an adult planning to make logical and robust courses.

I can imagine kids having loads amount of fun messing around in a coop builder mode.

Yeah aren't all the kids like pros are co-op creation thanks to Minecraft now?

When talking about the Moon and Night time it said that once you unlock it, you can have night-time without having to place the moon in a level.

"Once you unlock it"

We're gonna have stuff gated behind gooseberry fool aren't we? Either the story mode or the way it was in the first game where you had to use all the new items and place a certain number of blocks to trigger the next delivery.

Can't be arsed with that. Really wish there was an "Unlock all elements" option to get straight into making proper levels.

Really late reply, but I think the reason they may be staggering it is so you can get to grips certain elements. For a lot of people there's no real need, but I guess some may prefer to have less options and master things before moving on.

I guess the option to unlock everything, like you said, would be best for everyone. Means some can get to grips and other can get balls deep from the get go.

Loved the Direct for this, can't believe how much they've packed into it. As others have said, they could have quite easily just ported the original and probably still made a killing on it.

I have to admit although I own the Wii U version I barely played it, I came to it quite late and feel like I missed out on the community for it. This having a story mode makes it much more enticing for me as I know I'll get plenty of play out of that and by getting it at launch I'm hoping I'll really be able to be part of the active community this time around, even though I expect to be playing levels more than I'll be creating them.

The Super Mario 3D world art style looks great, I'm really glad they added that as I adored 3D world. It's a shame that the Game Boy styles didn't make their way across but I guess maybe there's hope for a future release or even DLC. I'd absolutely love to see a Super Mario Land 2 art style as it's my favourite 2D Mario, a Paper Mario style would also have been very welcome!

I'd like to get the physical game with the bonus year of online. Where's the best place to order, or pre order?

You've decided to switch from physical to download, Dan? The physical route is cheaper; for example, the game+One year of Nintendo Online is £49.85 at ShopTo.

Edit: Oops, that wasn't answering the question, though. Sorry, dude, I've only bought direct through the Switch and haven't tried website purchasing!

Ooh, thanks jawa. I thought I'd go digital as I still have some eShop credit (which can't be used on the regular store to buy physical versions :x ) but that's solely to make it cheaper - if I can get the physical one cheapest I'll do that. Are ShopTo reputable then?

It's frustrating how much cheaper the physical versions are. I hate using carts so I am definitely getting it on the eshop, but it's irritating to be charged £10 more for the privilege.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

It's currently listed at about £43 if you go for the Aussie or Swedish eShop so you can save yourself a few quid that way if you want to stay digital.

Getting mega hyped for this now, brings back memories of getting the graph paper out to draw my own designs for levels back in the day! :toot:

I suspect, much like with the original, I'll set up camp in the Super Mario World theme and will need to be dragged out of it by force.

Mario Maker 2 will not allow online multiplayer with friends. Online is with random people only.

Nintendo really don't 'get' online still
